Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic AssociateDirector of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery to lead and oversee enterprise-wide resilience programs for our growing business. This leader ensures the company’s ability to maintain operations, safeguard policyholder interests, and meet regulatory obligations during disruptive events. The Director will manage critical vendor relationships, such as Everbridge and oversee program management within the RSA Archer platform. This role will also serve as a key liaison to the NLG Corporate Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the NLGOperational Risk Committee.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Provide thought leadership in the development, organization, monitoring, and reporting associated with the Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery (DR) programs that ensures a clear and concise operating plans for the company
- Lead the enterprise-wide BCM framework aligned with ISO 22301, NAIC, FFIEC, and other relevant standards.
- Advise executive leadership, regulators, and auditors on organizational resilience and crisis readiness.
- Embed continuity planning into governance, enterprise risk management, and corporate strategy.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure individual business continuity activities are kept current and documented
Program & Vendor Management
- Manage the company’s Everbridge contract, ensuring readiness of crisis communication capabilities.
- Oversee use of software tools such as RSA Archer and Service Now for documenting, monitoring, and reporting on continuity and disaster recovery programs.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all BC and DR plans
Risk, Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Collaborate with the Operational Risk Committee to ensure continuity considerations are integrated into the enterprise risk framework.
- Partner with Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal to ensure readiness for audits and regulatory exams.
- Align BC and DR program activities with cybersecurity, compliance, and vendor risk management requirements.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Consult and advise senior and mid-level business and IT leaders in documenting and enhancing BC and DR strategies, evaluating business and IT risks, identifying program opportunities, and implementing effective and efficient solutions to manage or accept risk related to these programs.
- Build cross-functional partnerships with other business units and teams throughout the organization to deliver business results.
- Provide clear reporting and dashboards via Archer to executives, regulators, and committees.
- Build awareness, training, and accountability across business units and field partners.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s in Business Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Certifications: CBCP, MBCP, or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Experience:
- 8+ years in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, or Operational Risk with 2+ in leadership.
- Strong knowledge of life & annuity insurance operations and supporting investments.
- Experience with NAIC, FINRA, SEC, and state insurance regulatory frameworks.
- Hands-on proficiency in RSA Archer for business continuity and risk reporting.
- Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, able to engage with executives, committees, and regulators.
- Analytical and organizational expertise with cross-functional influence.
The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position. Salary range
- $100,000 - $185,000
