The Associate Director, Process Implementation Lead leads the transition of hybrid automated cell therapy manufacturing processes from Development to operations at the Devens site. This matrix and direct people manager role drives project milestones, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance, overseeing reports in support of advanced manufacturing automation and process integration.

Shifts Available:

Monday to Friday, standard business hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional and matrix teams for technical transfer of automated and hybrid cell therapy manufacturing processes into Devens operations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and track technology transfer projects, ensuring on-time delivery and seamless operational startup.
  • Manage and mentor team members, fostering engagement, development, and high team performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement transfer protocols, manufacturing documentation, and training programs.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration and alignment among Cell Therapy Development, Cell Process Site Implementation, Cell Therapy Automation, MS&T, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and global stakeholders.
  • Champion process automation, digital solutions, and business process improvement.
  • Support CAPEX/resource and budget planning, risk analysis, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMPs, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
  • Establish and report project metrics, providing clear communication to site and global leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and best practice adoption.
  • Model BMS values, promoting safety, inclusion, innovation, and operational excellence.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience in technical transfer, ideally in automated or cell therapy manufacturing.
  • Advanced knowledge of cGMPs and regulated pharmaceutical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage direct and matrix reports successfully.
  • Skilled at navigating matrix organizations, collaborating cross-functionally, and influencing outcomes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to guide team meetings and technical discussions.
  • Project management, process improvement, and problem-solving expertise.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing systems and digital platforms preferred.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage budgets, and facilitate change.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8+ years relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing with 3+ years leading teams or projects.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological sciences, or related field required; advanced degree.
  • Direct experience in technology transfer or new product introduction preferred; cell therapy and automation background is a strong plus.
  • Engaging, people-focused leader known for team development and driving results.
  • Action-oriented, adaptable, and committed to process efficiency.
  • Values positive change, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Working Conditions:

  • May require occasional travel (<10%).

Compensation Overview:

Devens - MA - US: $178,420 - $216,197&#xa;

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
