
Associate Instructor, Electrical-Plumbing, Stewart Co.
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for a full-time Associate Instructor in the Electrical and Plumbing Construction Technology program to be located at Stewart County High School in Dover, Tennessee. This is a grant-funded position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field. Associate degree preferred. A comparable combination of related work experience and education may be considered.
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in the Electrical and Plumbing field within the last five (5) years.
- Must possess a high degree of knowledge in electrical theory, residential/commercial print reading and wiring techniques, load calculations, conduit bending, National Electric Code, plumbing fixtures and installation, pipes and fittings, water distribution and drainage installations.
- Current Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE) and Limited Licensed Plumber (LLP) licenses or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months.
- Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.
SKILLS
- Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
- Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
- Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
- Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in a timely manner.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Electrical and Plumbing Construction Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: electrical theory, residential/commercial print reading and wiring techniques, load calculations, conduit bending, National Electric Code, plumbing fixtures and installation, pipes and fittings, water distribution and drainage installations.. The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; assist in recruiting new students, and assist with graduate placement. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry; maintain an active advisory committee; cooperate with outside agencies; and supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. This position is full-time and reports to the Clarksville Campus Director. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Scheduled class hours are Monday through Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Instruction is delivered in-person at Stewart County High School. Anticipated start date December 1, 2025.
SALARY: $55,983-$67,181 annually ($28.71-$34.45 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
