ABOUT THE POSITION

The Bankruptcy Analyst manages all bankruptcy activities and analyzes all current and historical bankruptcy filings for Default Management in accordance with statutory compliance, regulatory compliance, and company guidelines. This includes all daily operational bankruptcy activity management and strategy relating to monitoring active and resolved bankruptcies, assessing risk to the Credit Union, meeting deadlines, and completing bankruptcy-related tasks based on established company guidelines. This position will ensure all bankruptcy activities are completed timely in accordance with established work rules, goals, and objectives to improve timeline and attorney performance. All positions are expected to help foster a culture of team collaboration, accountability, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to customer service and satisfaction.


NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK

  1. Manages all accounts in bankruptcy and in post-bankruptcy resolution. This includes, but is not limited to, consumer and commercial Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13. Serve as point of escalation when necessary.
  2. Actively reviews all open bankruptcies for agreeability to presented treatment and cram-down of accounts, initiates strategic treatment objections, along with relief from stay, and works with counsel to file objections when necessary.
  3. Represents Civic in creditor-based roles when needed, with and without counsel as necessary, including the meeting of creditors.
  4. Monitors all activities and maintains a strict schedule of court-imposed deadlines to be met.
  5. Oversees the prioritization of the portfolio of bankruptcies to ensure all actions required are completed prior to court-imposed deadlines.
  6. Leads all primary and timely communication with internal and external counsel in relation to bankruptcies.
  7. Partners with counsel, for both Civic and its debtors, to maintain adequate protection of security interests. Lead negotiations regarding payment, reaffirmation, and/or return of collateral when necessary.
  8. Monitors all court-stipulated repayment plans for default and initiates remediation efforts with counsel.
  9. Identifies unsuccessful collection efforts and consults with the Default Management Team when recommending escalated collection efforts such as repossession and foreclosure.
  10. Actively fosters relationships with internal teams and individuals to ensure support of accounts impacted by bankruptcies.
  11. Stays current with pending regulatory and state law changes that could impact Bankruptcy processes.
  12. Utilizes reporting to support timely activities on all bankruptcy cases.
  13. Leads day-to-day internal and external relationships establishing and monitoring service delivery, productivity and quality standards.
  14. Provides recommendations to management on process improvement opportunities within the department and outside where applicable to minimize risk exposure.
  15. Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures with strict adherence.
  16. Takes ownership for actions, decisions, and results; openly accept feedback and demonstrate both the willingness and ability to improve.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be qualified for this position.

  1. Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in bankruptcy management or managing/servicing non-performing loan accounts.
  2. Expert knowledge and experience with the loss management, loan servicing, foreclosure and bankruptcy lifecycles and state and federal laws related to non-performing loans.
  3. Demonstrated analytics proficiency and proven level of trust and diplomacy.
  4. Experience developing and managing through policy.
  5. Excellent verbal, written, presentation and leadership skills. Must possess a strong service orientation.
  6. PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and the Internet.
  7. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  8. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer).
  9. Travel required on occasion.

  1. BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Management preferred.
  2. Collections experience at a Credit Union or other financial institution.
  3. Experience or certification as a paralegal.
