This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Purpose of PositionUnder limited supervision, performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities in Benefits Administration.Essential FunctionsThe Human Resources Rep I is responsible for the administration and delivery of employee benefit programs including health, dental, life, disability, and retirement plans. This role ensures employees receive accurate information, support, and guidance regarding their benefits throughout the entire employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. The position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service.Assist in preparing and distributing benefits materials to employees.Provide general information and guidance on benefit and retirement offerings to support employee understanding.Support the coordination of New Employee Orientation, including the delivery of basic benefits information.Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding benefits, retirement plans, and life event changes, and refer complex matters to senior staff.Assist with the annual enrollment process, communication and input benefit changes.Maintain benefits-related documents, forms, and communication templates; assist with website updates.Support the offboarding and clearance process by preparing applicable benefits and retirement plan information.Schedule and assist with retirement preparation meetings and distribute retiree benefit materials.Facilitate benefit-related trainings on topics including health benefits and retirement planning.Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and campus-wide HR events as needed.Handle inquiries from federal and state agencies related to benefits and retirement matters.Stay current on legal and regulatory changes through UT System updates and other official sources.Comply with all State and University policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills:Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems such as PeopleSoft; ability to learn and adapt to institutional software platforms.Knowledge of employee benefits and retirement plan administration and applicable laws (e.g. COBRA, HIPAA).Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
