As a Business Analyst with NLG, you will play a valuable role within the business analyst community and be a go-to contact for business partners. You will rely on your experience and ability to breakdown complexity to clearly articulate business needs and translate those needs into business value. This role requires ability to carry the project efforts and support cross-team collaboration to execute some of the moderate and complex initiatives within NLG. You will partner with NLG’s internal and external IT teams and business partners, along with project management, to identify and solve business needs to deliver improved business outcomes. You will support all aspects of business analysis and communicate your findings effectively to both technical and non-technical team members. In this position you will serve as a key/team member to the BA community by partnering in recruiting efforts, supporting professional development, training activities and initiatives.
To thrive in this position, a candidate will possess a comprehension of the Life and Annuity industry and able to assist with business process changes within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead functional analysis and develop related deliverables for projects broad in scope with moderate to high complexity.
- Lead process mapping sessions with key stakeholders by applying knowledge of business process analysis and modeling practices, identifying current state gaps, developing process improvement solutions considering value, risks, costs, and other factors.
- Elicit, document, analyze and validate business requirements and user acceptance criteria of current and proposed process solutions to define project scope and offer appropriate business recommendations.
- Adopt business analysis standards and promote maturation and enhancements to PMO processes.
- Support user acceptance testing planning through requirements traceability analysis and test-scenario identification; assist business partners in defining and establishing performance frameworks and KPIs.
- Establish and build relationships with various stakeholders, acting as the liaison between all areas of the company and NLIT.
- Communicate complex concepts and results in a clear and effective manner, including key deliverables such as requirements documentation and functional specifications, and presentations to summarize information for broader or executive audiences.
- Support all aspects of business analysis activities as needed (e.g., lean documentation, current state analysis, roadmap development, customer interviews, workshop facilitation, customer journey mapping, etc.).
- Facilitate professional development training and learning opportunities for team members, including new hires; work to improve delivery practices of the organization by introducing and establishing best practices.
- Support the recruitment of new talent as needed.
- Understand organizational changes and provide support to the team of business analysts and promote company vision.
- Set an example and provide support to others by modeling a results-oriented and organized approach to work with the ability to prioritize multiple work efforts while maintaining attention to detail; resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Works collaboratively with project management to deliver to the project scope and schedule; identify and address risks and issues in a timely and effective manner; and follow the change management process.

Qualifications
- 4-7 years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or other relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Systems, or an MBA.
- Proven understanding of the Life and Annuity insurance industry required.
- Experience working directly with all stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications or new features.
- Experience eliciting requirements, analyzing and developing solutions that meets the business needs or writing effective user stories / business requirements with acceptance criteria.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills needed to define and understand business needs and determine appropriate solutions to support organization-wide change.
- Proven proficiency in a variety of quantitative analysis, data analysis, and process modeling techniques; experience with Tableau, Alteryx, and similar analysis tools preferred
- Solid leadership, facilitation, and collaboration skills with a servant leader’s mindset within a team environment.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
- Strong knowledge of delivery lifecycle of various implementation methodologies (such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), project management, quality assurance and testing methodologies for both large, complex, and small deliveries.
- Hands-on experience with various requirements management tools and software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex information to business users and communicate findings to business leaders.
- Self-motivated and independent individual with a sense of ownership and accountability for work; proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work through ambiguity.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced collaborative environment and work independently.
- Licenses / Certifications: LOMA FLMI Certification, preferred.
- Business Analyst designation (CCBA) is preferred.
The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
