Harvard Business School Executive Education brings together senior executives from the world’s most influential organizations, preparing them to reach the next level for their organizations and for themselves. Working closely with HBS’s world-class faculty, we design and deliver programs for individuals and for organizations, welcoming over 12,000 participants annually from over 130 countries. Programs range from a few days to multiple weeks. Most programs are delivered on the HBS campus, where participants live, learn, and dine together in dedicated Executive Education residences and facilities. Our programming includes in-person, virtual, and blended (combining both in-person and virtual learning) options. The Executive Education department consists of open enrollment, global, and custom program portfolio management; guest services; marketing; corporate sales; program operations; technology services; human resources; enrollment and admissions; and finance.
Job Description
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, Custom Programs, this position is a key player on the Custom Programs Business Development team. They will function as a clearinghouse for all new leads, drive sales enablement, and produce business development metrics and reports, supporting new client acquisition and revenue goals. The role also collaborates closely with the Director of Business Development to evaluate existing processes and implement new methods to increase operational efficiency.
Term Position: This position is approved as a term appointment 6 months from start date. The position is not expected to extend beyond six months.
Position Description
Inbound Sales Management
Manage and track all inbound leads, including entering information into Salesforce
Exercise judgment to decide which opportunities to move into the pipeline for pursuit
Decide which opportunities to refer to other HBS groups or Harvard schools and make referrals with appropriate context and background
Set up business development meetings and campus visits, including leading tours for potential clients
Collaborate on and draft initial client proposals and presentations
Sales Enablement & Research
Conduct client research and client call preparation, and serve as the internal Center of Excellence for industry and client research
Curate and maintain a library of Custom sales tools (proposal templates, session descriptions, topic descriptions, testimonials, creative for proposals, etc.)
Business Development Metrics
Manage Custom revenue metrics for new business opportunities, including maintaining revenue projections in Salesforce
Generate, analyze, and communicate business development metrics and reports, including for monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports and meetings
In collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director of Business Development, generate and track Custom performance against target revenues
Other
Build trust and collaboration by being present on-site and engaging directly with colleagues and various constituents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
5+ years of directly related and specific experience in business development, sales operations, revenue reporting, or client services is required.
Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience is a must.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
BA/BS or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience in both corporate and higher education settings preferred.
Must have outstanding communication and organizational skills.
Requires a team player with an eye for detail and skills to collaborate with multiple teams with shared accountability in a fast-paced, high-energy, often ambiguous, environment.
Must be self-directed, take initiative, and be proactive and resourceful in problem solving.
Client focused, with proven ability to develop trusting working relationships with colleagues and business partners with high expectations.
Working knowledge of Salesforce strongly preferred.
Additional Information
Standard Hours: This is a 40 hours/week, overtime eligible position.
Term Position: This position is approved as a term appointment 6 months from start date. The position is not expected to extend beyond six months.
Expected Offer Range: $84,000 to $86,000 annually commensurate with experience

Other Information:
This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of onsite and remote work at our Boston, MA based campus. Executive Education expects staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments to provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
