Job Description

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is a community of Information Technology professionals committed to delivering service and technological solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and administration. Job-Specific Responsibilities:

This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through 6/30/26. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding and department & university priorities.

  • Write and maintain calculation scripts in Oracle Planning's calc scripting language to model complex business logic and calculations for planning models.
  • Define and maintain business rules in Oracle Planning and Groovy to enforce validation, constraints, and automation across planning processes.
  • Configure drivers, dimensions, hierarchies and other metadata aspects of Oracle Planning models.
  • Perform testing, debugging and troubleshooting of business rules to ensure calculations are functioning as intended.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to business users on Oracle Planning functionality and processes.
  • Analyze business requirements and workflow needs to recommend enhancements to existing Oracle Planning configurations.
  • Develop training and documentation materials for business users.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping
  • Work on an Agile team to deliver technical solutions that meet our user's needs.
  • Ensure that operational tasks are completed on time and coordinate with business units as needed.
  • Participate in production support by responding to user tickets, user questions, system issues and requests for data sets, reports and system enhancements. Independently research and troubleshoot any issues. Consult other analysts as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process and/or system improvements. Make suggestions to implement those changes.
  • Analyze business processes and requirements and document functional specifications for system enhancements and new applications

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

  • 5+ years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

The following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.

  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Planning, Hyperion Financial Management/Planning, and SmartView.
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle Planning calc scripting language, Groovy rules, and SmartView.
  • Experience;
    • in higher education a strong plus
    • with;
      • configuring drivers, dimensions and other metadata.
      • documenting requirements and functional specifications
      • testing and supporting business applications
      • project management methodologies
  • Agile project management and Jira tracking tool a plus
  • Oracle Strategic Modeling a plus
  • Excel VBA a plus
  • Oracle Developer a plus
  • SQL language a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
  • Any Oracle EPM Certifications a plus

Work Format Details

This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
