Job Synopsis
The HR – Case Management Specialist supports MCC US in promoting, developing, and implementing policies on Abuse of Power (including harassment, racism, SEAH, and fraud). Working on a three-person team with the Case Management Supervisor (lead) and the Canada-based Specialist, this role trains staff, supports policy implementation, tracks and responds to abuse reports, and documents actions taken—primarily for US and International Program cases, with occasional involvement in Canada.In partnership with MCC’s Safeguarding Coordinator, this position also serves as a global safeguarding expert—advising focal points, aligning policies and procedures, refining training materials, strengthening complaint mechanisms, improving investigative practices, and facilitating global data collection and reporting to ensure accountability.

Essential:
- Bachelors degree in HR, Social Work or other relevant field. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree also accepted.
- 1-3 years relevant experience in Human Resources, Social Work, or other investigative experience.
- Demonstrated intercultural competency and ability to navigate cross-cultural conflict.
- Strong English written and communication skills, including ability to prepare sensitive correspondence, conducting interviews, and leading trainings and presentations.
- Comfort with learning new software and technological tools, ability to manage large amounts of data and produce relevant reports.

Preferred:
- SHRM certification, or masters in HR or social work.
- Experience in conducting high quality, culturally sensitive, and neutral HR investigations in complex and diverse environments.
- Experience in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, staff conduct and discipline, and/or humanitarian affairs.
- Experience developing and working with policies and procedures related to conflict, harassment, and/or prevention of sexual violence and child protection.
- Spanish fluency
Key Responsibilities
Specific Tasks and Duties:

- As directed by the Case Management Supervisor:
- Review, adapt and implement existing tools and procedures at MCC related to abuses of power and case management.
- Develop and tailor tools, resources and procedures related to abuses of power and case management.
- In collaboration with the US Training and Development Specialist, develop and/or tailor and facilitate abuse of power training modules for use at MCC’s in the US and International Program, including for orientations, manager training, staff and board training events.
- Provide support to staff within the MCC US looking to better integrate safeguarding into MCC-supported projects.
- Audit Case Management data to ensure all relevant information is collected for reporting.
- Develop and run reports on Case Management work for relevant parties including HR Directors, boards, and the Safeguarding Steering Committee.
- Participate in testing and implementing software developments and improvements.
Participation in Case Management Teams, including providing leadership, support, guidance, and advice (50%)
- Ensure all investigations are conducted to the highest quality standard in line with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- For all assigned cases in the US and International Program, oversee complaint response process:
- Serve as primary initial contact for MCC US Abuse of Power reports to MCC common portals
- Provide on-call monitoring and triaging for incoming reports one week per month.
- Using the Case Management Process Guide, respond to all assigned reports of abuse of power (harassment, racism, sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH), fraud etc.). Triage the initial complaint using relevant policies and processes.
- In partner cases, or in cases requiring a manager response, provide follow-up, training, technical advice, support and mentoring and act as the resource person to help source tools, resources and provide any relevant guidance.
- Organize and lead Case Management Teams (CMTs) for relevant cases.
- Serve as key interviewer on cases as needed.
- Ensure proper translation is available for case responses where needed.
- Ensure appropriate and timely follow-up with all relevant parties, on a need-to-know basis including reporter, subject of concern, and relevant manager and/or Director.
- Ensure relevant case data is properly recorded and documented in the Case Management software. Ensure relevant data is added to staff confidential employment records.
- Provide support to survivors, including access psychosocial support and medical treatment as needed. Record steps taken in Case Management software.
- Support communication with global focal points, managers, and others on a need-to-know basis, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
- Document lessons learned from each situation to support system-wide improvements based on learnings from cases
- Ensuring that the Case Management Supervisor is kept fully updated on cases.
- Maintaining high quality and confidential records, files, and logs of all assigned cases.
HR Network Participation (10%)
- Participate in regular staff meetings, including US HR team meetings and Global HR Network Meetings.
- Participate in safeguarding standing committee and other working groups as assigned.

Supervision: No direct supervision.
Travel expectations: Travel up to 5% or 10 nights away per year primarily with in the US, May be required to travel internationally on occasion. If position is not based in Akron, more travel may be required (Travel 10%-15%).

Base salary: $59,269.63. Starting salary may be adjusted up to $65,855.15 based on previous experience.Benefits
