Role Overview
The Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) is a critical member of the executive leadership team, responsible for unifying product management, engineering, architecture, and AI strategy under a single vision. This leader will balance operational rigor and execution discipline with innovation and transformation, ensuring the company delivers on current commitments while successfully launching and scaling its next-generation platform.
The CPTO will play a central role in improving speed-to-market, product quality, and customer value realization, while embedding AI capabilities across both internal operations and customer-facing products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Define and execute a clear multi-year product strategy across legacy and next-generation platforms
- Rationalize and modernize the legacy portfolio while maximizing customer retention and profitability
- Lead the successful launch, iteration, and scaling of the new product platform
- Ensure strong alignment between product roadmap, customer needs, and commercial priorities
- Partner with Sales, Marketing and Client Success on pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies that drive revenue growth and expansion
2. Technology & Engineering Leadership
- Lead all aspects of engineering, architecture, and platform reliability
- Drive improvements in delivery predictability, velocity, and quality
- Establish scalable, modern development practices (Agile maturity, DevOps, CI/CD)
- Ensure platform stability, security, and performance across all products
- Own technology investment prioritization, balancing innovation with operational excellence
3. AI Strategy & Execution (Internal + Product)
- Define and execute an enterprise AI strategy spanning:
- Internal productivity (e.g., engineering efficiency, support automation, GTM enablement)
- Customer-facing product capabilities (e.g., intelligent workflows, predictive insights, automation)
- Identify and prioritize high-impact AI use cases with measurable ROI
- Build or partner to develop AI/ML capabilities, including data infrastructure and governance
- Ensure responsible, secure, and compliant use of AI
4. Product Development & Execution Excellence
- Improve on-time, high-quality product delivery and release predictability
- Implement clear metrics and accountability (e.g., roadmap adherence, cycle time, defect rates)
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration between Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales
- Drive a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement
5. Customer-Centric Innovation
- Deeply understand customer workflows and pain points
- Embed customer feedback loops into product development
- Partner with Customer Success and Sales to improve adoption, retention, and expansion
- Deliver measurable business outcomes for customers
6. Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead high-performing Product and Engineering organizations
- Upgrade talent where needed; attract and retain top-tier leaders
- Establish clear organizational structure, roles, and accountability
- Foster a culture of urgency, innovation, and disciplined execution
7. Executive Engagement
- Serve as a key partner to the CEO and executive team
- Communicate product and technology strategy, progress, and risks to the CEO
- Translate technical initiatives into clear business outcomes
- Support due diligence, investor discussions, and strategic planning initiatives as required
Key Qualifications
Experience
- 15+ years in product and/or technology leadership roles within SaaS or software companies
- Proven experience as a CPTO, CTO, CPO, or similar combined leadership role
- Track record of modernizing legacy platforms while launching new products
- Experience in PE-backed or high-growth environments preferred
- Demonstrated success improving delivery execution and operational rigor
AI & Data Expertise
- Practical experience implementing AI/ML solutions in both internal operations and customer-facing products
- Strong understanding of data platforms, governance, and AI tooling ecosystem
- Ability to translate AI hype into real, scalable business value
Leadership & Execution
- Strong operator with a bias for accountability and results
- Experience leading cross-functional transformation initiatives
- Ability to balance strategy with hands-on execution
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
