Clinical Faculty, SOM (Part-time) (Academic Year 2025-2026)UIW MissionPosition SummaryThe Department of OPPI invites candidates for Clinical Faculty, part-time within the University of the Incarnate Word's School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM). The faculty member will operate within the UIWSOM framework of lifelong learning through collaborative scholarship, innovative educational excellence, and learner-centered curricula. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities as assigned.This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty in designated area as needed during the academic year.Essential Functions• Participate in implementing a transformative curriculum that involves the collaborative development and implementation of competency-based, innovative, and integrated teaching and learning strategies.• Teaching activities include the following topics/skills: clinical reasoning, medical interviewing, communication, physical examination, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and medical procedures. Teaching activities may also involve interaction with standardized patient actors and simulation models.• Participate in student skills assessments.• There may be other times when teaching, mentoring, or advising will occur; arrangements will be made with the Chair.• Adhere to UIW policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.• Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.• Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.• Performs all other duties as assigned.Job DutiesKnowledge Skills and Abilities• Strong knowledge base and experience in individual's discipline as it relates to the practice of medicine.• Excellent communication skills.• Strong knowledge base of medical history taking and clinical skills.• Knowledge of osteopathic philosophy.• Knowledge of osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT).• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in complex interdisciplinary and interprofessional settings.• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required EducationD.O. or M.D. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.Required Work ExperienceCompletion of an ACGME accredited residency training program.Preferred Qualifications• Completion of an ACGME accredited residency training program, preferably in a primary care specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, etc.).• At least one year of post-residency/fellowship clinical practice.• Active use of osteopathic manipulation in clinical practice.• Experience teaching OMT to osteopathic medical students, residents, and/or physicians.• Experience with case-based and active learning methods in both small and large group settings.• Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.• Fluent in Spanish.Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsCurrent board certification or board eligibility in specialty, with a valid unrestricted Texas medical license, or ability to obtain Texas licensure in a reasonable time frame.Work HoursPart time (0.2 FTE) 8 hours/week or 16 hours/week (0.4 FTE).All regularly scheduled activities occur at Brooks City Base Campus all day on Tuesdays, Thursdays or both Tuesdays and Thursdays.Work on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays may be considered; negotiable with the Chair.Faculty may work one day per week or two days per week; negotiable with the Chair.Physical DemandsAbility to remain stationary for long periods of time, estimated at 4 hours/day.Posting Number: UN947POJob Type: Part TimeJob Category: FacultyDesired Start Date:Position End Date (if temporary):Reports To: Chair of Osteopathic Principles & PracticeSalary: Commensurate with experience.Open Date: 06/18/2025Close Date:Open Until Filled: YesSpecial Instructions to ApplicantTo apply, visit https://apptrkr.com/6311216UIW is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in employment, without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, citizenship status, national origin, age, marital status, disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, veteran status, pregnancy, and religion (except in limited circumstances when religious preference is both permitted by law and deemed appropriate as a matter of University policy).jeid-0f31dacb06954c4aa52d8f092a350f4e
