Required Clinical Experience

• Applicants will have previous experience providing psychological services through evidence-based psychotherapy, psychological testing and/or related services.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with physicians and other clinicians in diagnosing and treating patients with mental health conditions.
• Demonstrated ability in teaching students or trainees is strongly preferred.

Required Research Experience

• Applicants will have an established track record in conducting independent research, publishing novel scientific findings, and obtaining extramural funding.
• Experience doing community and stakeholder-engaged research is preferred. This position will have significant research effort so that an extramurally funded research program can be established in the context of the Department’s core research areas, which include substance use, trauma, HIV, mood disorders, and suicide prevention.
• Experience in working with children, adolescents, and young adults is preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Current licensure (LCSW, Ph.D., LPP, LPCC, or the equivalent), or eligibility to obtain licensure and/or industry-standard board certification in the field of psychotherapy, psychological testing or related services to practice in the state of Kentucky.

Job Summary

The UK College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry is seeking a faculty member to serve as a clinician and researcher in its Research Division.

The Department employs physicians, psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals to provide a wide variety of behavioral health and substance use treatment services at multiple locations. Our clinicians provide care at our UK Psychiatric & Behavioral Health Care Clinic at Fountain Court, Albert B. Chandler Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Eastern State Hospital, and various other clinics and departments throughout the UK HealthCare system and outside organizations throughout Kentucky. Our team of researchers are working to advance the understanding of behavioral health and how behavioral health conditions are managed and treated. Our department has five ACGME-certified residency training programs which focus on training more than 50 physicians each year to become the future leaders in psychiatry. Our Department strives to provide the highest level of patient care, innovative educational programs, active research in mental illness and advocacy throughout the state of Kentucky and beyond. These pursuits have helped the department win the American College of Psychiatrists’ Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education not once, but twice.

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in clinical care providing psychotherapy, psychological testing, and related services to adults or children and adolescents. Additionally the candidate must have an emerging or sustained track record of success in research including a history of submitting and/or receiving intramural or extramural funding as well as publishing articles in peer reviewed journals.

The Department of Psychiatry’s a Behavioral Health Care Clinic is located near the Hamburg area of Lexington at 245 Fountain Ct., Lexington, KY, 40509. This off-campus location provides free onsite parking for employees and patients as well as a primary care/urgent care clinic and retail pharmacy that is accessible for both patients and employees.
