
CNC Programmer - New Brighton
Responsibilities
Position Summary
The CNC Programmer will create and verify machining programs for 3–5 axis CNC machining centers, support the development of touch probe programs, develop and maintain machining processes, and provide tool lists and machine setup instructions to the shop floor. Additionally, they will participate in machining fixture and cutting tool design and development, cost reduction projects and develop relevant documentation.
Competitive base rate - $37 to $48 per hour depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Create and verify machining programs for 3–5-axis CNC machining centers working from blueprints and 3D models.
Support the development of touch probe procedures and programs used for on-machine verification and inspection.
Develop and maintain machining process documentation, including tool lists and setup instructions provided to the shop floor.
Participate in machine fixture and cutting tool design and development.
Participate in cost reduction projects related to CNC programming.
Document best practices, procedures, and programs.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to 5S/6S principles.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Related machine trade certificate/diploma and two years relevant experience, or six years relevant experience
Understands basic concepts of machining complex prismatic components
Experience with CNC milling, turning, or grinding
Experience setting up and operating machine tools
Intermediate ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and measuring tools, process planning and inspection
Comfortable with Windows PC and Microsoft Office products
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented, self-starter
Ability to learn conceptually (in contrast to procedurally) and apply knowledge to new applications

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with CAM systems, especially Siemens NX or GibbsCAM
Experience in a precision machine shop environment
Experience with high speed, 5-axis machining of aluminum
Understanding of machining fixture design
Experience simulating and optimizing CNC programs, especially using Vericut
Understanding of postprocessors for a variety of machines and controls
Understanding of touch probe programming
Physical Demands / Working Conditions:
Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 35 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
Travel by air or car occasionally
Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
