Job Summary

The Director of the Center for Support and Intervention (CSI) is a part of the broader Dean of Students structure. Within the Office for Student Success, the Dean of Students area strives to work in partnership with students and staff to create supportive environments that empower exploration and learning while leading lives of meaning and purpose. Reporting to Dean of Students, the CSI Director serves as a member of the Dean of Students leadership team. This position leads a dynamic team, orchestrating their efforts to provide unparalleled guidance, mentorship, and support to our students through non-clinical case management. The CSI Director’s strategic mindset will be a driving force in defining and achieving goals that align with university priorities, steering impactful student success initiatives. Harnessing the power of data-driven insights, the CSI Director will make informed decisions that elevate programs, while actively participating in university-wide committees and initiatives focused on enhancing student success. The CSI Director will manage the CSI budget responsibly and lead process changes, optimizing communication, partnerships, and technology/database operations. The Director will be the architect of policies and procedures that uphold the integrity of office operations and support updates aligned with our university’s evolving needs. During high-stakes moments, the CSI Director will be called upon to address crises and high-level incidents impacting our students. The Director will guide the CSI team’s response to complex concerns and crisis situations, ensuring the well-being and support of our community. As a beacon of knowledge and leadership, they will actively contribute to the Community of Concern, providing administrative support for designated follow-up and influencing university-wide improvements in crisis response/behavioral intervention strategies. The CSI Director will support a team of professional staff by nurturing a positive culture, embracing professionalism, and fostering a positive work-life balance. By championing critical process improvement initiatives, the director will continuously elevate office practices to mirror best industry standards and the office’s mission, vision, and values. The CSI Director will guide the implementation of knowledge-sharing activities, actively seeking team feedback and building a dynamic team environment that thrives on learning and growth. Major job responsibilities are supervision and staff development, strategic planning and assessment, operations management, crisis management and response, and professional development/organization improvement. Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Collaborating with key campus partners to optimize support services for students. A commitment to a student-centered approach and non-clinical case management philosophy, guiding the team to provide holistic assistance. The establishment of clear standards and expectations for our professional staff, cultivating a culture of excellence that extends its influence to a national level. Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of case management, experience leading a case management program, in-depth knowledge of issues or difficulties facing student populations with lower retention rates; knowledge of college student mental health and campus and community resources; experience responding to individuals with complex support needs and facing barriers to services; ability to respond compassionately to a variety of student needs and concerns; experience supporting a team responding to crisis or higher level concerns; excellent interpersonal, decision making and verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail and planning and organizational skills; ability to demonstrate independent judgement regarding student issues. We are seeking a collaborative team player with high emotional intelligence. Experience with MS Windows, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint) and database management skills.

Preferred Education/Experience

Prefer a Masters level degree or higher in Social Work, Higher Education, Student Affairs or related human services field, and 6 years of experience in related field.
