As a communication director, you will produce creative briefs and detailed communication plans that align partner goals with the university’s broader strategic mission. This includes the facilitation of physical, digital, and experiential content that reflects SCAD’s overall mission, vision, and values. Additionally, you will serve as the main contact for assigned partners, keep department leaders informed and involved to ensure projects are completed on time, and represent the creative direction team at events.
In this role, you will foster positive working relationships with key leaders across SCAD. You will also manage an annual calendar and proactively start work on yearly campaigns with key stakeholders before deadlines. Among other duties, you will ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, lead meetings, and create content for new and ongoing campaigns. With strong writing and communication skills, you will clearly convey important points related to partner goals and the university. Additionally, you will aim to understand university metrics for success, record actionable insights from both quantitative and qualitative feedback, and use those insights to improve future campaigns.
The ideal candidate demonstrates institutional knowledge, a consultative and collaborative attitude, and a thorough understanding of creative processes. They can translate complex ideas into measurable outcomes across teams and build strong relationships with internal and external partners. They possess excellent prioritization skills, which will be used to advance multichannel marketing and communication objectives.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least five years of progressive experience in an integrated marketing or communications role
- Proficiency in project management or creative traffic management software
Preferred qualifications:
- Adobe Creative Suite experience
- Experience in a creative agency or event management environment
- Management experience
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid driver’s license
Travel required:
- 10–20%
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
