Job Summary

The Compensation Consultant Lead plays a critical strategic role in executing compensation programs that drive organizational performance, ensure market competitiveness, and support the goals of the University and UK HealthCare (UKHC). Serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and HR partners, this role provides expert consultation on compensation-related decisions, including offers, job analyses, job architecture, and market studies.

With expertise in compensation best practices, this role leads complex projects such as organizational restructures, acquisitions, and compensation process improvements. The role also delivers analytics to inform decision-making, supports annual market and merit review cycles, and ensures organizational readiness through effective communication and collaboration with partners.

In addition to project leadership and data analysis, the Compensation Consultant Lead models excellence in customer service and relationship-building across all levels of the organization. The role leverages compensation technologies and systems and partners cross-functionally to enhance service delivery and compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies. Staying informed of best practices, this position continuously innovates to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of compensation programs—helping the university meet its strategic objectives.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the Compensation field with thorough knowledge of Compensation best practices, methodologies, and wage & hour regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills to collect, interpret, and evaluate data to make informed recommendations on compensation strategies.
  • Customer and team-orientation with a collaborative and flexible approach.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver results.
  • Deep expertise with compensation tools (e.g., Salary.com, Mercer WIN), HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Workday), and advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, modeling).
