Job Description:
The Configuration Management Specialist will provide technical and logistics support to maintain accurate, controlled configuration baselines for Aegis Athena systems. This role supports lifecycle management, modernization planning, configuration change processes, and data integrity across multiple Navy information systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with complex technical data, and able to collaborate across engineering, logistics, and fleet readiness communities. While prior military experience or experience at NSWC Port Hueneme Division is preferred, we are willing to train motivated applicants.
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform configuration management and integrated logistics tasks to establish and maintain configuration control and configuration status accounting.
• Use Navy enterprise data systems to update configuration data, maintain system hierarchies, and support configuration database cleanup and maintenance activities.
• Prepare and submit configuration-related updates, including system configuration changes and planning data.
• Utilize Navy modernization and planning applications to review, track, and manage configuration and logistics information.
• Monitor, review, and track engineering change documentation to identify required updates, logistics impacts, and follow-on actions.
• Draft, update, and process configuration documents such as engineering change proposals, ship change documents, and related technical products.
• Track technical and supportability requirements associated with configuration changes, including functional and physical characteristics, schedule impacts, and lifecycle considerations.
• Support nomenclature assignment processes using Navy tools when required.
• Participate in readiness and assessment events, including alteration readiness meetings, shipboard assessments, configuration audits, and logistics evaluations.
• Develop and maintain baseline configuration charts for Aegis Athena system documentation.
• Coordinate Local Configuration Control Board activities, including preparing agendas, charters, briefs, minutes, and tracking action items.
• Support higher-level configuration control boards by preparing inputs and tracking required responses.
• Provide regular updates to program leadership summarizing progress, issues, risks, and accomplishments.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to obtain the necessary access credentials for Navy logistics and configuration systems.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage detailed technical data and track actions across multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency with standard office software (spreadsheets, presentations, documents).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Navy configuration management, logistics support, system modernization processes, or shipboard systems.
• Familiarity with Navy data systems such as MBPS, NDE applications, or modernization planning tools.
• Experience preparing or processing engineering change documentation.
• Experience supporting shipboard assessments, configuration audits, or readiness events.
• Military experience or prior experience at NSWC Port Hueneme Division.
• Experience coordinating or supporting Configuration Control Boards.
• Active Secret clearance.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD Government- granted security clearance.
