Summary/Objective:
In partnership with the Associate Director and theater leadership team, the Coordinator supports day-to-day operations to ensure a premier and welcoming movie theater experience at the Academy Museum. You will help coordinate staff, facilitate screenings and events, communicate with internal departments, and address guest needs to ensure smooth program execution.
This position is represented by a union.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Coordinate and direct staff at any museum theater events, programs, and rentals.
- Supervise day-to-day theater operations, ensure proper floor coverage, and manage staff breaks.
- Work with Projectionists, Film Programmers, Talent Relations, A/V, Security, and other departments in facilitating program introductions, film screenings, and panel discussions.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including tracking inventory, ordering supplies, preparing run-of-show materials, responding to emails, etc.
- Handle theater experience challenges, concerns, comments, and complaints escalated from the floor staff level, including any seating, ticketing, or admissions issues.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of museum management, in-house projection staff, museum technical staff, event managers, and engineers.
- Inform theater staff of new information relating to events, policies, procedures, or visitor issues.
- Lead daily team huddles to ensure a successful run-of-show for all screenings and events.
- Facilitate AV elements for various events, such as distributing microphones for speaking events and occasionally introducing films.
- Ensure team compliance with legal policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain theater accessibility supplies and equipment.
- Attend weekly meetings both in person and virtually.
- Uphold the Academy standard for program excellence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Competencies:
- A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
- 2+ years of venue management experience in a customer-facing role.
- Knowledge of admissions, Mobile POS, and online ticketing systems.
- A proven track record of motivating staff and fostering a positive work environment.
- Experience communicating effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Experience handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of showmanship.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt to the ever-changing nature of live events.

- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of film, picture aspect ratios, and sound reproduction techniques preferred.
- Museum or cultural attraction experience preferred.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
