Description:

Coordinator of Community Outreach position to provide a wide range of outreach activities in collaboration with health and human service and community agencies. Develops relationships as a community liaison; builds and maintains a referral network/database and maintains working relationships between community agencies and organizations and East Boston WIC. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Availability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. HS Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree preferred. Minimum two years experience in community or human services desired. Bilingual preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Coordinator performs a variety of program outreach activities in the community that supports outreach, networking, and /or collaboration.

Activities:

  • Complete a minimum of 60 activities per quarter.
  • Efforts are continually made to contact new groups and organizations; and provide existing organization with updated eligibility information.
  • Visits and follow up with contacts on a regular basis.
  • Develops and maintains community liaison with health and human services providers and advocacy organizations in community served by the local WIC program.
  • Builds an active, coordinated referral network and collaborative, working relationship between community agencies and groups and WIC.
  • Provides WIC program, education and outreach materials to local agencies and advocacy groups.
  • Represents WIC at community health fairs, workshops, and other public forums.
  • Develops and maintains the Massachusetts WIC Community Network Database with community contacts made and outreach activities conducted within the service area.
  • Frequency: Activities are entered on a monthly basis.
  • Documentation: Detailed description of activities performed in ‘Comment Section’
  • Quality: a well-rounded variety of activities/collaboration with agencies/providers in the program’s service area.  The activities should include providers visits, presentations, informal sessions to highlight WIC, health fairs, events in the community, material drop offs, meetings attendance, etc.

Mondays 10: 00am - 6:00pm (Lunch 1:00pm - 1:45pm) 7.25
Tuesdays 9:00am - 6:00pm (Lunch 1:00pm - 1:45pm) 8.25
Wednesdays 9:00am - 5:00pm (Lunch 1:00pm - 1:45pm) 7.25
Thursdays 9:00am - 5:00pm (Lunch 1:00pm - 1:45pm)  7.25
Fridays 9:00am - 3:45pm (Lunch 1:00pm - 1:30pm)  6.25

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma. Associate’s Degree Preferable
  • 2 years’ experience in community work or health and human service desired
  • Knowledge of community, neighborhoods served by EBNHC
  • Vehicle required
