Job Description

Job Summary:

The Nutrition and Global Health Program in the Department of Global Health and Population, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated Senior Program Coordinator with a public health background to join its management team and contribute to the strategic development of the program's training, research, and regional partnership activities. The program is conducting several global health training and research projects with partners in resource-limited settings in sub- Saharan Africa and Asia, primarily Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, South Africa and India. The program’s training grants aim to offer health training opportunities to build research and training capacity in lower-and-middle income countries in topics including maternal and child health and nutrition, HIV and infectious disease prevention, and health data science.

Working closely with the Program's Senior Manager and Coordinator, and in coordination with program faculty and partner institutions, this position will be supporting a wide range of activities within the program including managing programmatic aspects of existing training grants and global collaborations.


Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in managing training grants activities including activities related to recruitment, selection, and supporting trainees with matters such as travel, health insurance, appointments, visas, course selection, and fellowship stipend payments
  • Lead communications with stakeholders and program teams via conference calls to ensure program objectives are met on time and within the approved budget
  • Organize monthly seminars, annual symposia, workshops and other program events
  • Perform program evaluation through progress reports and tracking trainee progress
  • Prepare technical reports to the funder and contribute to writing of grant proposals, progress reports, manuscripts, and other materials
  • Assist with advertisement of the programs and updates to the program websites
  • Coordinate activities for the Nutrition and Global Health Concentration
  • May support efforts and coordinate activities for ongoing global initiatives including Africa Research, Implementation Science, and Education (ARISE) Network
  • Other duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of one year from the date of hire with the possibility of extension.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master's Degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related field is a plus
  • Experience in international research project coordination
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working independently, under supervision, and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Goal and detail-oriented work style
  • Experience with meticulous and consistent follow through on projects

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
