Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under limited supervision, the Coordinator III, Fine Arts coordinates or contracts out many events related to the areas of Art, Drama, and Music on the LSC - Tomball campus. Collaborates directly with students, faculty, the public, ISD teachers and administrators, non-profits, and local artists for both class-related and non-class-related performances, events, and rentals. May supervise staff and students in support of these tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans and implements a marketing strategy for departmental materials, including print communications, social media campaigns, communications with visiting artists and local high schools, which is measured and adjusted semi-annually
  • Acts as a point person for productions and concerts. This may include contract preparation, purchasing and budget monitoring, coordinating public relations, facilities and safety logistics, recruiting and coordinating volunteers and front of house staff, and coordinating campus calendar management to facilitate planning meetings and schedules for production. May supervise staff in support of these tasks
  • Mentor and support Fine Art students through various means, including: tracking attendance at required performance events to ensure success at completing cohort standards; and, assisting students with pathway planning to successfully complete Fine Arts degree
  • May oversee ticketing & promotions as needed, book exhibits into the Art Gallery, as well as maintain the Performing Arts Center mailing list, Fine Arts newsletter, and the Fine Arts websites. Responsible for maintaining art archives, including video and photo materials which require special care and handling
  • Assists in making travel arrangements for all fine arts student groups, as required
  • Works with all fine arts faculty (full time & adjunct) on educational and administrative procedural needs of their programs. Collaborates with administrators, educators, and parents to coordinate a strong Fine Arts program
  • Maintains office organization with respect to efficiency and workflow
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Strong writing, editing, project management, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Excellent knowledge of general office and software applications
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports
  • Knowledge of website and social media analytics tools
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • High level of customer service
  • Skill in PC use, calculator, copier, Excel, etc.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
