Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Learning Center provides oversight of daily operations to one or more Learning Centers or Tutoring Labs. Leads, plans, develops, evaluates and improves assigned area. Assigned area and responsibilities will be extensive and/or highly specialized. Responsible for the success of assigned area, ensuring smooth and efficient operations as well as compliance with policies, procedures and a variety of local, state and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct daily operations of assigned area; Maintain records. Recruit, hire, schedule and prioritize work and activities and organizes training materials for tutors; Maintain current knowledge base of assigned area and acts as a point of contact for internal and external customers
  • Evaluate success factors for assigned area and create plans for improvement; Responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with local/state/federal compliance of processes and documentation; Assist with or lead opportunities to develop new programs in support of assigned area
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, train and develop department staff
  • Develop reports utilizing independent research and presents findings to internal/external constituents (may include LSC Managers/Executives, community members, and/or outside groups and organizations)
  • Coordinate various department and leadership calendars and schedules; Plan, schedule and coordinate various meetings/seminars/events, including site selection and preparation, marketing and training materials, and general support
  • Monitor and control resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department; Submit requisitions, and review and approve/deny purchase requests in accordance with the budget; Manage the department budget
  • Update the campus website with a Content Management System
  • May maintain and troubleshoot low-level software and technology for individual learner
  • May serve as a tutor in appropriate discipline
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULD AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Work schedule may include evenings and weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to area of specialty
  • Experience tutoring in the assigned discipline
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
