What You Will Do
- The primary responsibility of the TRIO Upward Bound Counselor/Tutor is to provide academic career and personal counseling as well as instruction to help prepare high school students for post-secondary education.
- The Counselor/Tutor supports students in overcoming academic, social and personal challenges by offering tutoring, advising on college admissions, financial aid and career planning while fostering skills necessary for academic success.
- The Counselor/Tutor will be responsible for assisting in developing/refining program curriculum, maintaining data on required program areas, recruitment of students and other duties as assigned by the Program Director or designee.
- The Counselor/Tutor is expected to maintain a balanced workload that prioritizes direct participant services while fulfilling the program's recruitment, documentation, curriculum development, outreach, and administrative responsibilities.
- Work priorities may fluctuate throughout the program year based on student needs, recruitment cycles, academic calendars, summer programming, reporting deadlines, and priorities established by the Program Director.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Possess strong organizational, planning and time-management skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
Experience in TRIO Upward Bound Progams
Demonstrated passion for working with educational programs that serve disadvantaged, low-income and first generation high school students, with a commitment to promoting students success and higher education opportunities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point is preferred. Ability to effectively utilize student tracking and database management systems is recommended.
