AutoNation Finance is seeking a Collections Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the FPD (First Payment Default) and Reinstatements Team handling accounts that have defaulted on their first payment and those undergoing reinstatement processes. This role ensures compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements while leading a team focused on resolution, recovery, and customer service excellence.
Organizational Relationships:
The Collections Supervisor will report directly to the Collections Manager and will manage a team of Loan Counselors and Reinstatment Agents. The role involves collaboration with internal departments such as Risk, Compliance, Customer Service, and Repossession, as well as external vendors. Additionally, the Collections Supervisor will work closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise, mentor, and train a team of Loan Counselors and Reinstatement Agents responsible for managing accounts that have defaulted on their first payment, as well as overseeing the reinstatement process post repossession. Provide continuous coaching to enhance individual and team performance, supported by structured daily, weekly, and monthly performance evaluations. Conduct formal performance reviews and proactively identify training opportunities to strengthen agent competencies and align outcomes with departmental goals.
- Collections & Recovery Oversight:
Oversee the management of accounts that have defaulted on their first payment.
Ensure the Loan Counselors are adhering to AutoNation Finance’s collection policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Ensure all state and federal guidelines are followed regarding repossession and borrower communication.
- Skip Tracing & Location Efforts:
Perform skip tracing to locate customers and vehicles using various tools and databases.
Identify and escalate potential fraud or misrepresentation concerns.
- Customer Communication & Support:
Maintain professional and empathetic communication with customers in sensitive or escalated situations. Provide education on account status, potential consequences, and available options.
- Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation of all account activity in servicing systems.
Ensure compliance with FDCPA, CFPB, UDAAP, and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in collections, recovery, or repossession coordination.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in auto collections.
- Knowledge of auto finance collections and recovery processes.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience using skip tracing tools and auto finance servicing systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and office management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and customer service focus.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and use a computer and phone regularly.
- Occasional light lifting of files or office materials.
Compensation Range for this role is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 Annual Salary plus monthly bonus targets.
