The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center Cancer is one of BMS’s differentiated research platforms delivering innovative therapies to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of cellular therapies to harness the power of the immune system in treating hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease. More specifically, our discovery and translational scientists are focused on developing next-generation, engineered cell-based therapies. In the role as a T&O Cytometry QC Research Associate within Translational Research: Technology & Operations, the ideal candidate:

Primary Responsibilities: Data Quality Control

  • Work primarily on reviewing and performing quality control (QC) of clinical flow cytometry data generated by external partner laboratories, under minimal supervision
  • Utilize data review tools to ensure the quality of flow cytometry data in preparation for downstream analysis
  • Regularly review incoming clinical data to identify and report discrepancies and QC issues
  • Draft and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the data QC process
  • Maintain effective communications with external laboratory partners to facilitate data remediation
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to contribute to the development and improvement of data review tools

Additional Laboratory Responsibilities

  • Work in the laboratory under moderate supervision to perform routine sample testing using flow cytometry assay and analyze resulting data
  • Conduct routine maintenance on flow cytometry instruments, troubleshoot issues, and communicate with field application scientists as needed
  • Support critical reagent management, including assay controls, custom antibodies, and frozen samples, ensuring proper handling, storage, and tracking

Other Responsibilities

  • Set and understand priorities in both local and matrixed environments
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and a collaborative spirit, maintaining networks within and outside the organization
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support team and program objectives

Experience =

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • No experience necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (Immunology, Oncology, Biology) with 0-2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with routine clinical sample testing using multi-parameter (8+ colors) flow cytometry assay
  • Strong technical background in flow cytometry and hands-on experience with a broad array of flow cytometry platforms. Experience with Cytek Aurora is a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of flow cytometry analysis software such as BD FACSDiva, FlowJo, FCS Express. Experience with OMIQ is a plus.
  • Experience with LIMS, ELN, and laboratory data analysis system.
  • Strong attention to details and organizational skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and operate in a local, and highly matrixed environment.
  • Ability to multitask high priority tasks in parallel with internal and external collaborators.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, department management and cross-functional peers about task status, roadblocks and needs.
  • CRO experience is a plus.

Compensation Overview:

Seattle - WA: $76,270 - $92,422


The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
