Job Description:

The Role

Fidelity Institutional (FI) is seeking a Data Governance Analyst who will play a critical role in supporting the governance program for FI and Fidelity Institutional Wealth Management (IWMS). This role focuses on governance operations across 13 complex data domains, enabling trusted content is available to support decision-making and innovation.

As a Data Governance Analyst, you’ll provide administrative support. Specifically, for the Data Oversight Committee and My Access provisioning efforts. Your work will make sure data is managed securely, responsibly, in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities Governance Operations & Support:

  • Data Oversight Committee (DOC):

Support the intake, review, and documentation of business unit provided use cases and data movements to ensure timely and compliant decisions. Capture decisions, detailed action items and ensure business unit follow-through on approval conditions.

  • Access:

Review and validate access requests for critical applications and data domains ensuring they are in good order and follow FI’s approved entitlement structure. Monitor for outdated, conflicting or excessive permissions/roles and coordinate with system owners to remediate issues. Look for opportunities to automate access reviews, workflows, and document steps to reduce manual effort.

  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics, issues, and activities across business lines.

Policy & Framework Development:

  • Assist in the documentation and help to implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) framework across business lines, legal entities, and data platforms.
  • Support the interpretation and translation of privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, Reg. SP) into practical guidance for data handling.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and awareness programs to help the organization understand and follow governance practices.

Collaboration & Partnership:

  • Work closely with governance leadership and cross-functional teams (Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology, Privacy, Vendor Management, etc.) to support governance objectives.
  • Partner with project teams to assist in the definition of access and governance requirements for new systems or data sources.
  • Provide training and clarity for in-good-order access processes and data governance workflows.
  • Participate in governance forums, committees, and working groups as needed.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Management, Information Systems, Finance, Business Analytics).
  • 2–4 years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, or similar, ideally in financial services or another regulated space.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, and regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Experience with data governance or access tools (e.g. MyAccess, Collibra, Alation) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with supporting tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Curious, analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
