Job Summary

The Data Research Analyst will provide analytical support to help manage the research enterprise at the University of Kentucky.

In the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), this position will work independently with colleges, departments, and support units across campus to gather requirements and influence how our services are measured by assembling dashboards, self-service tools, and reports to analyze and deliver information on extramural research data, operations, and strategic decision-making.

This position requires advanced proficiency in using Tableau Desktop, including creating and designing dashboards, connecting to and joining various data sources, constructing complex calculated fields and level of detail expressions, and using formatting and layout options. The Data Research Analyst will be required to periodically develop, coordinate, and provide training and materials on extramural research data. Training may be delivered in person or virtually, depending on our customers’ needs.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with various stakeholders across the university while also managing timelines to ensure reports are timely and accurate. This position will also be independently accountable for producing and maintaining metadata, preparing flowcharts and other documentation to illustrate data flow through systems and procedures, writing technical documentation, and assisting with archiving obsolete reports.
