The Data Visualization & Dashboard Design Lead is responsible for designing and developing executive ready dashboards that deliver clarity, insight, and alignment across the organization. This role designs dashboards for business metrics that are intuitive, scalable visual solutions, grounded in a deep understanding of both business objectives and data realities. The individual will also serve as a mentor and partner to maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and usability.

Key Responsibilities

Dashboard Definition & Design

  • Define and design executive dashboards to be built in Tableau, producing clear, compelling data visualizations tailored for senior leaders and strategic decisionmakers.

  • Maintain a design system and visualization standards, ensuring dashboards follow best practices in UX, accessibility, and analytical storytelling.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Gathering

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholder groups to understand business questions, decision making needs, and stakeholder use cases.

  • Synthesize diverse requirements into cohesive dashboard designs, balancing cross functional needs and delivering a unified, enterprise aligned product.

  • Lead and facilitate requirements gathering, wireframing, and prototyping sessions to help stakeholders visualize concepts early in the process.

Data Modeling Partnership

  • Partner closely with AtScale developers and data engineering teams to ensure semantic data layers are structured to support dashboard functionality, data definitions, and performance.

  • Develop a strong understanding of data sources, data limitations, and modeling constraints to inform design decisions.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to Tableau developers, supporting them in turning design specifications into high quality, scalable dashboards.

  • Ensure implementation aligns with the intended user experience, visual design standards, and data logic.

Visualization Strategy & Best Practices

  • Champion data visualization best practices across the team and organization.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline dashboard development processes, improve consistency, and enhance stakeholder experience.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in data visualization, usability, and storytelling ideally with Tableau or similar modern BI visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik).

  • Strong proficiency in wireframing, prototyping, and dashboard design methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead structured requirements gathering across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into integrated, data driven visual solutions.

  • Experience partnering with data engineers to ensure alignment between design, data, and visualizations.

  • Experience mentoring junior analysts or developers and overseeing dashboard implementation.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights for nontechnical audiences.

  • 5-7 years of experience in Data visualization and dashboard design.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Media, Business Analytics or related field
