Key Responsibilities:
- Administers and maintains SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, backup/recovery, and security.
- Implements and supports AWS Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, as well as Snowflake data platforms.
- Designs and manages data replication strategies using tools such as HVR.
- Leverages virtualization technologies like Delphix for data masking, cloning, and test data management.
- Develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines for database provisioning and deployment using PowerShell and other automation tools.
- Monitors database performance and system health using observability platforms such as AppDynamics and DataDog.
- Applies deep expertise in SQL Server HADR technologies, including Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Performs advanced database tuning, error resolution, and root cause analysis to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Understands and applies relational and dimensional data modeling principles; experience with dbt is a plus.
- Captures and documents business rules used in data transformation and integration processes.
- Publishes and maintains data models and supporting documentation for use by project teams and technology groups.
- Promotes reuse of existing data objects and entities across the enterprise to reduce cost and improve consistency.
- Applies standards for data quality and serves as a data steward.
- Advises on architecture frameworks for operational stores, data marts, and content management systems.
- Communicates directly with clients to understand business and technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and present solutions.
- May lead technical design for small projects or contribute to larger initiatives.
- Functions independently with limited direction; work is reviewed periodically and on an exception basis.
Experience and Education:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in database administration and engineering.
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
