Position Summary
HunaTek is seeking an experienced Deputy Program Manager to support a large, complex U.S. Department of Defense communications, network, cybersecurity, engineering, and information technology services program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is contingent upon contract award.
The Deputy Program Manager will serve as the Program Manager's principal deputy and will support the leadership and execution of an approximately 400-person, multi-site technical organization. The DPM will have significant responsibility for day-to-day program operations, workforce execution, subcontractor integration, performance management, risk, quality, and coordination across technical and functional organizations.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience leading complex DoD technical services operations and will be capable of assuming Program Manager responsibilities when required. This position requires a hands-on program leader who can translate program strategy and customer priorities into disciplined execution across a large, distributed organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal deputy to the Program Manager and act on behalf of the PM when required.
- Lead day-to-day integration and execution across program operations, technical organizations, functional leads, and teaming partners.
- Support transition, stabilization, and integration of a large, multi-site technical services environment while maintaining mission continuity.
- Coordinate subordinate managers and technical leads to ensure staffing, operational, schedule, quality, and performance requirements are achieved.
- Drive workforce readiness activities including recruiting, incumbent capture, onboarding, clearance requirements, training, retention, knowledge transfer, and succession planning.
- Monitor program performance, operational KPIs, risks, issues, dependencies, and corrective actions and ensure appropriate escalation and resolution.
- Support Government customer engagement, program reviews, performance reporting, and resolution of operational and contractual issues.
- Integrate subcontractor and teaming-partner activities into the overall program operating model and ensure accountability for assigned performance.
- Support program financial management, staffing forecasts, resource planning, subcontractor performance, and cost control.
- Lead implementation and execution of program governance, quality, risk, configuration/change control, and continuous-improvement processes.
- Coordinate across communications, network, cybersecurity, engineering, IT, and mission-support functions to identify and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Ensure operational decisions and improvement initiatives remain aligned with mission requirements, contractual obligations, and customer priorities.
- Support development of a high-performing program culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, workforce stability, and mission execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience supporting DoD or Federal technical services programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multidisciplinary technical operations and leading subordinate managers, functional leads, or large technical teams.
- Experience supporting large-scale contract transitions, workforce transitions, or complex operational integrations.
- Experience with program performance management, staffing, schedule, quality, risk, and customer engagement.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and/or integrated teaming partners on Federal programs.
- Working knowledge of DoD communications, enterprise IT, network operations, cybersecurity, service management, configuration management, and mission-support environments.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Government customers, senior program leadership, technical personnel, and business stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Active DoD security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain the level of clearance required for contract performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous U.S. Space Force or U.S. Air Force program leadership experience.
- Experience supporting mission-critical operations within the Colorado Springs defense community.
- Experience supporting programs or organizations with several hundred personnel.
- Experience with incumbent workforce capture, onboarding, clearances, training, retention, and knowledge transfer.
- Experience managing fixed-price DoD technical services contracts.
- Experience integrating multiple technical organizations or legacy service environments.
- Experience supporting highly available or no-fail communications, network, cyber, or mission-support environments.
- PMP, PgMP, or comparable program/project management certification.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
