This Director, Chief of Staff role, also known as a Director Assistant, directly supports the Executive Vice President of Global Infrastructure (GI) The Director Assistant is responsible for a broad range of activities including strategic, analytic and communications initiatives to help ensure the objectives of the portfolio are met. The incumbent will work closely and collaborate with all members of the GI organization. They will possess outstanding thought leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills, and will have a proven record of excellence operating independently and within a high performing team environment. This individual will also serve as a thought partner in determining direction for the organization and business partners, in collaboration with its leadership team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Running the office of the Executive Vice President and acting as a central point of contact for urgent business issues, initiatives managed by the executive office and addressing informational requests.
  • Support in creating impactful and comprehensive communications/presentations for a broad set of audiences.
  • Leading goal setting and measurement process for the team.
  • Managing business planning and operational processes such as planning and owning leadership workshops, talent assessments, townhalls, site visits, performance calibration sessions, etc.
  • Supporting adhoc special projects.
  • Liaison with CEG partners, the broader Chief of Staff community, and other key stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Coordinating and facilitating regular staff meetings and monthly VP discussions on behalf of the EVP.
  • Coordinating office administration and ensuring the seamless delivery of Enterprise Technology Services and American Express’s informational requests.
  • Actively seeking formal and informal feedback from employees to ensure maximum employee engagement and improvement towards leadership effectiveness.
  • Creating strong working relationships across the group as well as business partner groups to maximize information sharing, problem solving and idea generation for key business issues.
  • The successful candidate is a strong strategic thinker who possesses the confidence and composure required to effectively communicate across a diverse set of constituents.

Qualifications:

  • The role is a multi-faceted one and requires analytical, strategy, and consultative skills.
  • Extensive experience in project management and change management including ability to multi-task and handle shifting priorities with time-sensitive deadlines in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills (issue identification, problem structuring, analysis, development of recommendations).
  • Exemplary positive attitude & interpersonal skills with a consistent record in successfully building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships with senior management at all levels within the organization.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter who can drive results and get things done in a self-directed manner, with excellent organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Have exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including strong Microsoft office skills including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong executive presence and proven ability to exercise the utmost discretion when handling confidential matters.

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
