Director of Career ServicesUIW MissionPosition SummaryThe Director of Career Services supports learning through a comprehensive career services program encompassing the following areas: employer relations, career counseling, job search assistance (resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, identifying job leads, and using social media, etc.), graduate school counseling and information, internship assistance, and other areas related to career success. This person will collaborate with multiple internal constituents to promote the career development of students. The Director is a pivotal and highly visible individual, working closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and alumni to expand possibilities for student learning, leadership, and employment. The Director of Career Services reports to the AVP Enrollment Management.Essential FunctionsJob DutiesKnowledge Skills and Abilities• Strong background in student development.• Experience working with diverse populations.• Ability to motivate and assist students in developing long-term goals and coordinate this effort with faculty, staff, alumni, and recruiters.• Exceptional organization, planning, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.• Extensive knowledge of career counseling techniques, career development theory, and job search strategies.• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required EducationBachelor's Degree.Required Work Experience• Six (6) years of progressively responsible student support experience in higher education to include at least three (3) years of experience in Career Development.• Two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities in relevant field.Preferred Qualifications• Master's Degree.• Five (5) years of experience in Career Services in higher education.• Bilingual in the Spanish language.Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsNone Specified.Work HoursTypical Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional extended hours/weekends to meet departmental needs and/or needs of the learning community.Physical Demands• Ability to lift up to 30lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events OR of event materials.• Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve event materials.• Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 50lbs.• Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
