Job Summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a visionary Director to lead the Commonwealth AI Transdisciplinary Strategy (CATS AI)—a bold initiative to transform UK into an AI-powered university that drives innovation for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.

As Director, you will:

  • Shape the future of AI at UK by building a holistic strategy that integrates AI into education, research, healthcare, student success, and administration.
  • Lead a dynamic team and coordinate a broad network of stakeholders across campus to ensure a strategic, intelligent evolution toward an AI-enabled institution.
  • Forge critical partnerships with industry leaders to accelerate AI adoption and innovation.
  • Champion culture change by demystifying AI, expanding access to tools and training, and fostering collaboration across disciplines.

AI offers the ability to automate, augment, and optimize how students learn and live on campus, how we teach and conduct research, and how we deliver advanced patient care. To fully realize this potential, UK is developing a strategic framework and governance structure that ensures broad access to tools, training, best practices, partnerships, and data for our students, faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals.

This role is ideal for a strategic leader and technical advisor who thrives in complex, matrixed environments and is passionate about leveraging AI to transform higher education and healthcare. You will report to the AVP of Innovation and AVP for Partnerships and work closely with senior leadership to operationalize this groundbreaking initiative.

Why UK?
Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the way we learn, teach, research, and deliver care. UK is committed to leading this transformation with significant investment and a transdisciplinary approach. This is your opportunity to define the future of AI in higher education and make a lasting impact on Kentucky and beyond.
