Job Description:

The Role

As the Director, Client Delivery Portfolio Manager, you are a member of a team focused on end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of critical initiatives in support of Fidelity Health and our portfolio of clients. You are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering those initiatives. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and staffing requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to complete specific client initiatives. You will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and celebrating both lessons learned and successes with your squad. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.

  • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team, partner support and alignment
  • Anticipating, discovering, and prioritizing client / partner needs through ongoing interaction, to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
  • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
  • Measuring performance against established objectives and key performance indicators that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Program Managers to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Work with internal and external customers to define priorities for your squad, balancing multiple client needs
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the initiatives your squad owns to internal and external customers, coordinating with partners to support successful quality outcomes
  • Understanding the Health Operations processing and operating environment and how key initiatives in flight impact the success of the operation; customer relationships for multiple initiatives; tailoring critical information of a complex or involved nature to a number of influential audiences; this role is sought out by senior leadership for opinions and recommendations on project delivery related matters
  • Ensuring success of initiatives against organizational metrics within the portfolio through a variety of means including coaching & support, consultative activities relative to execution, controls & documentation and leadership engagement and assistance

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Certified Agile Practitioner, of Certified Product Owner Preferred
  • 5-7 years of with most recent experience as a Product Owner or other client facing project delivery role
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
  • Financial services or healthcare experience preferred
  • Jira experience required and Jira Align experience preferred
  • You take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • You grasp complex client needs and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and effectively communicate these
  • You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate, and remove impediments to progress
  • You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a record of accomplishment of building high-performing teams
  • You continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
  • You establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to consult on your approach
  • You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching
  • You have or are committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers
  • You have experience applying Scrum outside of software development in operations or functions
