The ideal candidate is a highly technical leader who combines deep hands-on expertise with strong bias for action, consistently turning complex ideas into practical, high impact solutions. They operate close to the code and architecture, making sound technical decisions quickly while balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability. Known for cutting through ambiguity, they prioritize what matters most, drive focused execution , and deliver results without over-engineering. This leader sets a high technical bar, leads by example, and enables team to move fast with confidence by providing clear direction, pragmatic trade-offs, and relentless focus on outcomes.
You would work closely with Group Engineering Leader to build multi-year technical roadmap and direction supporting future capabilities as outlined in the product roadmap.
In this pivotal role, you will:
Build a high-performing team centered on attracting, developing, and aligning talent to consistently deliver exceptional results.
Define and complete strategic roadmaps in partnership with Group Engineering Leader.
Ensure the stability of high-volume legacy systems while transitioning to a high-performance, cloud-native platform.
Support common platform features such as self-service onboarding and creating the ability to scale to support unpredicted future volume demands.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
With over 10 years in software engineering, ideally 5 years in a leadership role at a FinTech or Tier-1 Investment bank. You are skilled in modern programming languages and frameworks, such as AWS, Oracle RDS, Java, Kafka and/or other streaming technology. Your expertise includes CI/CD pipelines, EKS, Docker, Jenkins, Udeploy, GitHub, Stash, Artifactory, and Terraform. You have successfully maintained 99.99% availability for large-scale systems processing millions of transactions.
Your leadership extends beyond technical knowledge; you foster a 'lead-by-example' mentality, mentoring teams and transitioning them from legacy outlooks to modern engineering cultures. You partner closely with Product Leaders to drive deployment and user acceptance of new releases, advocating for how the platform/system enables outcomes for the business and its customers.
Agile experience, along with Jira and Jira Align, is preferred. You are data-focused, translating strategic goals into action, and adept at identifying and removing impediments to progress. Your collaborative nature helps establish and maintain positive relationships across Fidelity, seeking out expertise to advise on your approach. You demonstrate strong acumen in translating partner requirements into deliverables and achievements, using agile routines to manage platform capabilities with Jira-based tools.
