
Director, Curriculum Innovation & Prog Assess
Position: Physician Assistant Program - Director of Curriculum Innovation and Program Assessment
Position Summary:
This is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure track faculty position in the emerging Physician Assistant (PA) Program, which will be a part of the College of Health Sciences at Alvernia University. The Director of Curriculum Innovation and Program Assessment will report directly to the PA Program Director. They will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing the curriculum and teaching methodologies as well as ensuring continuous data management, analysis, and reporting for compliance to all ARC-PA, PAEA, and regional accreditation standards. This principal faculty position is instrumental in the day-to-day operations of the Physician Assistant Program and the education of its students. The program location will be at the Reading
CollegeTowne site as of Fall of 2024, if provisional accreditation is obtained.
Principal Faculty Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, revise, and coordinate didactic and clinical year curriculum
- Work in collaboration with the Program Director and instructional faculty produce and deliver curriculum content
- Instruct didactic and clinical year students
- Develop and evaluate didactic and clinical year student assessments
- Mentor and advise physician assistant students
- Participate in the development and any necessary revision of the PA Program Mission Statement, Goals, and competencies
- Participate in the evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the Program in meeting its mission and goals
- Select applicants for admissions to the PA Program
- Provide academic counseling
- Participate in student remediation
- Participate in programmatic self-assessment and planning
- Evaluate student performance
- Provide instruction of content related to clinical expertise and as assigned by course directors
Director Administrative Responsibilities (In Collaboration with the Program Director):
Curriculum
- Develop curriculum and implement innovative physician assistant education pedagogies and teaching methodologies
- Develop a comprehensive means to track student competencies and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Develop specific student remediation plans as needed
- Provide leadership for curriculum mapping
- Ensure curriculum is up to date regarding the NCCPA blueprint
- Ensure curriculum is in full compliance with ARC-PA standards
- Organize and facilitate Curriculum Committee meetings
- Serve as the main point of contact for the University for all curriculum approvals and revisions
- Oversee the maintenance of student files that are maintained in EXXAT, and assist the Program maintenance of permanent student files as outlined by the ARC-PA
Assessment
- Participate in the PA Program application for provisional accreditation and ongoing self-assessment.
- Assure that the PA Program follows all ARC-PA accreditation standards
- Assist the PA Program Director in completing all ARC-PA documents as required by the
- ARC-PA including applications for accreditation, reaccreditation, and maintenance of accreditation
- Develop programmatic reports and surveys
- Ensure continuous data aggregation, management, and analysis for programmatic self-assessment
- Oversee the maintenance of instructional faculty files for the Hybrid PA Program as outlined by the ARC-PA
- Review and update the student and faculty handbooks annually
- Participate in local and national organizations to insure Program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction
General
- Mentor new faculty
- Participate in new student orientation, accepted student webinars/visitation days, and open house sessions for the PA Program
- Serve on University and PA Program committees as requested or designated
- Demonstrate commitment to the Alvernia Physician Assistant Program mission statement and lead by example
- All other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the PA program

Minimum Qualifications:
- NCCPA certification
- At least three years of clinical experience as a physician assistant
- At least three years of experience in PA education and direct experience with ARC-PA accreditation (preferred)
- Master’s degree or higher (preferred)
