To deliver on the vision, the Risk Products & Data Strategy (RPDS) team is driving the roadmap for modernizing risk platforms while enabling new business capabilities. Modernizing the Authorizations platform is a key strategic imperative to uplift an aging infrastructure and provide new capabilities to enable rapid innovation and growth.This role, Director of Digital Product Management will drive the vision, strategy & execution for modernization of Fraud risk decisions and capabilities. The role involves responsibility for product Management and development lifecycle for Fraud Risk journeys including Digital Charge Verification, Authentication, Authorization, concerns management etc

This role involves leading a team of product management & development professionals and working with Credit & Fraud Risk strategy teams and Engineering leaders to convert the product vision into a well-managed development roadmap with a set release cycle. This is a Risk Strategy & technology facing role defining software product vision, roadmaps, strategy of the product, capability tradeoffs, ensuring flexible and global system/capability design, grooming user stories, prioritizing work for scrum teams using program increments process and cadence.

The successful individual ensures that the new product meets the evolving needs of the enterprise through continuous innovation, evaluation and deployment.This role requires strong organizational, technical, creative problem-solving and stakeholder management skills and can influence across multiple levels of leadership.This person must work well in a dynamic, complex environment and under deadline pressures and be able to coordinate the efforts of a large Agile team (stakeholders, designers, developers, Data Stewards, and analytics) to deploy the new platform/product across global market set.

This is an exciting and critical role that will help drive the future roadmap for enabling best in class Fraud risk decisions at American Express.You’ll work among high performing design, product and engineering teams. We are looking for someone who is deeply inquisitive, enjoys creative problem solving, has a strong attention to details, has an entrepreneurial background and a maniacal focus to driving results, platform performance and high availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive vision and development of new products, features, and capabilities based on in depth knowledge of customer, business, and technology.
  • Integrate business needs, usability studies and market insights into actionable product requirements for Fraud risk capabilities e.g.- Authorizations, Authentication, etc.
  • Understand business objectives and customer needs, identify creative ways to leverage capabilities, and develop new solutions to meet those needs.
  • Own Discovery where options are assessed for product, features opportunities and problems. Form hypothesis, define outcomes and key results, and define and hone discovery processes to enable product teams to successfully achieve solid discovery outcomes.
  • Own and manage the product backlog which includes creating and reviewing Initiatives, Capabilities, Features and User Stories with Acceptance Criteria.
  • Own key stakeholder relationships across marketing teams.
  • Manage, coach and grow a team of product owners and product managers who build capabilities powering the experience.
  • Support and enable technical platform strategies for scale across products and markets.
  • Partner with Solution Managers to achieve solutions that meet current and future needs.
  • Brainstorm and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders to continuously define feature priority and then prioritize engineering work and balancing the requirements of customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage product life cycle to tactical execution.
  • Ability to manage and negotiate across partners, such as Product, Technology, Marketing, Servicing, Risk, Legal, Compliance and more to define and pivot product needs
  • Work closely with Technology as key partner interfacing back with business teams to oversee and ensure best-in-class delivery and customer outcomes
  • Monitor product data and customer feedback post launch and partner on continuous strategic growth strategy.
  • Lead Agile Release Train consisting of multiple product and technical teams across multiple platforms but prioritizing initiative backlog and managing dependencies and owning goals and outcomes.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in product role, leading high performing agile teams in creating software products in risk management or similar domains.
  • Understanding of Risk capabilities and/or Payments/Authorization domains is a must
  • Prior experience, building and scaling new platforms. Ability to envision the larger picture and contribute to functional and capability design of the platform.
  • Comfort with open stack, APIs, AI/ML, Data, cloud, Automation and high availability.
  • Self-motivated and able to act with a high level of independence.
  • A good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen with an ability understand and apply scalable solutions that are product agnostic.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced environment, frequent changing needs, and limited resources.
  • The ability to set a high bar for your team and empower them to achieve great results
  • A “driver” personality - constantly pushing towards clarity and delivery while balancing the need for great collaboration.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for great platforms, products and services and an ability to articulate platform functionality; ·
  • User-centricity - examples from your past of product challenges that you powered through because you were unwilling to make your problems your users’ problems.
  • Understanding of the evolving highly competitive business environment and how to create a flexible and scalable platform that meets regulatory and security requirements.·

  • Degree in computer science, engineering or a MBA require

Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
