American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) Products is the leading provider of payment solutions for corporations and small businesses, offering a suite of products and services that help customers run and grow their businesses. Within GCS Products, the Cross-Product Business Experience & Design team is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who excels at navigating ambiguity, driving innovation, and delivering meaningful outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This role requires strong leadership and a broad skillset - including strategy development, concept creation, design thinking, program execution, stakeholder influence, and cross-functional collaboration.
As we continue to expand and innovate in the commercial space, we are hiring a Director – Digital Program Management to lead critical initiatives that will redefine how Middle Market customers engage with American Express.
This leader will play a key role in advancing our mission: to deliver a fully integrated digital business experience for Middle Market customers - empowering them to seamlessly manage and grow their relationship with American Express.
Partnering across a diverse set of teams and workstreams, this Director will coordinate the execution of a best-in-class digital ecosystem - one that differentiates American Express through intuitive, personalized, and configurable experiences aligned to product and persona needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management Across Middle Market Strategy:Drive strategic coordination and execution across high-impact digital initiatives that support the Middle Market business segment. Ensure alignment to the broader vision and best-in-class digital ecosystem roadmap
- Digital Experience Delivery:Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of an integrated digital experience for Middle Market customers. Ensure seamless integration of core card and program management journeys across desktop and mobile platforms
- Roadmap Ownership & Execution Excellence:Define and manage a multi-year digital roadmap that balances large-scale transformations with iterative releases. Proactively manage dependencies, track milestones, mitigate risks, and ensure high-quality delivery across workstreams
- Enterprise Collaboration:Serve as a key integrator across Product, Engineering, UX, Enterprise Digital, Marketing, and other partners. Foster cross-functional alignment and shared accountability to accelerate progress and deliver business outcomes
- Stakeholder Influence & Communication:Influence senior leaders and executive sponsors to resolve roadblocks and make informed tradeoffs. Drive recurring communications, including executive-ready materials, to ensure transparency, alignment, and momentum
- Impact Measurement:Define and track program-level success metrics in partnership with analytics and product teams. Monitor progress against strategic goals and quantify the business value delivered through digital enhancements
- Occasional domestic travel
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience in program management, digital transformation, or product delivery. Proven success leading large-scale, cross-functional digital initiatives with measurable business and customer impact
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, carve opportunities out of white space, define strategic visions, and drive execution in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Deep knowledge of Agile product development methodologies and enterprise program management. Skilled in using collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Rally
- Experience delivering customer-focused digital solutions, ideally for commercial clients or segmented personas. Ability to define outcomes that align with both customer needs and business objectives
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills, including experience working with VP and SVP-level stakeholders. Able to lead through influence, align cross-functional teams, and drive enterprise-wide collaboration
- Track record of leading and motivating high-performing teams through transformational change. Skilled in managing multiple workstreams, shifting priorities, and fostering a culture of inclusion, excellence, and resilience
- Proven ability to analyze complex business processes, identify opportunities, and deliver innovative, scalable solutions
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives for all audiences, including senior leadership
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
