Job Description:
Fidelity Labs is seeking a Director of Full Stack Engineering to lead greenfield development of our new product’s robust backend API platform using Java Springboot and other related technologies. This role is ideal for a hands-on, technically strong leader who thrives on designing scalable systems, modeling complex domains, and building high-quality APIs that power innovative user experiences.
As a key member of our growing team, you’ll be directly contributing to the design and implementation of full-stack solutions to deliver our experience and record-keeping API layers. You’ll work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to bring ideas to life, drive technical excellence, and grow a product from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable backend APIs using Java Spring Boot and JPA.
 
- Build and maintain both domain-level and experience-level API layers.
 
- Collaborate with product and design teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
 
- Apply strong domain modeling skills to create intuitive and maintainable data structures.
 
- Collaborate with data architecture to build and maintain our domain data model
 
- Ensure high standards of observability, logging, and monitoring across services.
 
- Champion CI/CD best practices and contribute to a high-performing engineering culture.
 
- Apply modern application design patterns to ensure modularity, scalability, and resilience.
 
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Expert-level development experience in Java, Spring Boot, JPA, and related frameworks.
 
- Strong background in domain-driven design, RESTful API development, and database modeling.
 
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and cloud-native architectures.
 
- Proven experience designing and delivering full-stack cloud-based applications.
 
- Deep knowledge of system and application architecture, including modular, scalable, and resilient design principles.
 
- Experience with AWS services such as Aurora, DynamoDB, Lambda, and Kafka.
 
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (Angular, React, or similar) is a plus.
 
- Passion for clean, maintainable code and a strong testing mindset.
 
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams.
 
- Creative problem solver with a passion for technology and innovation.
