Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Director, Foundation Partnerships position (remote).

The Director, Foundation Partnerships will report to the SVP, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships and serves as a strategic leader responsible for driving approximately $7M+ in Foundation revenue and overseeing a portfolio of high-value partnerships for the organization. This position is accountable for qualifying new donors, researching/writing compelling grant applications ($100K-$2M+) and securing new six to seven figure gifts. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing grant reports in accordance with donor requirements, maintaining a pipeline of prospects, cultivating new relationships, and retaining and stewarding donors for the purpose of increasing long-term value for Operation Homefront. This position will have supervisory responsibility for the Sr. Manager of Foundation Partnerships, who oversees the Manager of Foundation Partnerships.

Desired candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus.
  • Experience working within veteran/ military, housing, financial literacy, or basic needs sectors a plus.
  • 5-7 years in foundation relations, grant writing, outreach, account management and stewardship.
  • Demonstrated record of sales and/or revenue goals achieved.
  • Experience using CRM and research databases.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial and budget management.
  • Microsoft Office Programs
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • MVR – Motor Vehicle Report (annual)

Primary job duties include:

  • Secure transformative Foundation partnerships, closing six to seven figure cash partnerships in support of an annual goal of approximately $7M+ for the organization. Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit leads for foundation relationships maintaining an aggressive pipeline of prospective donors. Write grant proposals for $100K+, working closely with SVP, Chief Revenue Officer, Development, Finance, Marketing, Communications and Program teams seeking funds to resource the organization’s mission. Prepare and present proposals externally to foundation decision makers.
  • Work collaboratively with SVP, Sr. Manager and others to build, manage and monitor pipeline, revenue and expense budgets and deliverables related to the implementation and execution of foundation partnership grant agreements, Develop strategies for positioning programs, projects, and requests to funders. Develop terms, draft agreements for review, and ensure contractual obligations are met for foundation relationships.
  • Schedule and organize meetings with foundation prospects and current donors, including the development of briefing documents for participating staff members, agendas, presentations (as necessary) and debriefings. Lead the follow-up to cultivate relationships, solicit, and secure gifts, and drive customized stewardship plans for each relationship.
  • Supervise Sr. Manager Foundation Partnerships (responsible for acquiring and stewarding partners and who also oversees Manager, Foundation Partnerships responsible for researching and writing grant proposals).
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to tracking donor and pipeline progress using OH’s CRM; provide strategy and guidance to regional development and operations teams on acquisition and stewardship of foundations; support and attend special events as needed.

Other Details:

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 10 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events as needed. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
