The Role

The Securities Finance Team, within Fidelity Institutional Technology (FIT), is seeking a Director of Software Engineer to join the team to help build and maintain high quality product and solutions to enable Securities Finance business. We are looking for a person who has hands-on software engineering experience building cloud-based systems using modern, scalable, resilient, Cloud native architectures (Containers and Serverless). This role will involve partner & stakeholder engagement, design, release support and production support. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Securities Finance technology team where you’ll get the opportunity to develop your skills, collaborate across Fidelity teams and continue to learn in a fun, collaborative, iterative, and rapidly changing environment

The primary technologies will be Oracle 19.x, PLSQL, SQL Tuning, Perl and Shell Scripting, strong understanding of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes to support Data Conversion / Migration / Consolidation. J2EE, Spring and experience integrating the Java Services with database procedures, PLSQL Statements is a must. Working with DevOps tools (Git, Stash, Jenkins, terracore) is vital.

We want to work with an engineer who is versatile, always eager to take on new problems and share solutions as we push the technology forward. Fidelity Institutional Technology offers a suite of electronic brokerage products and execution services across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, options, and FOREX, as well prime brokerage, securities lending, and municipal and bank issued brokered CD underwriting.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • BS or Master’s in computer science, Software Engineering or Mathematics

  • 10+ years of technology roles, specializing in the development and Engineering implementation of new technologies, preferably within financial or high-tech environments. experience in the development and implementation of new technologies in financial and high-tech environments.

  • Extensive experience in software development Oracle PLSQL Development, SQL*Loader, Oracle Export/Import, Unix Shell scripting.

  • Experience in J2EE, Tomcat Application Server, Spring Framework, JDBC, IBM MQ.

  • Experience loading and handling large volume of data.

  • Well-grounded knowledge of engineering and continuous integration & delivery CI/CD practices.

  • Deep understanding of well architected framework implementation in Enterprises: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency and cost optimization.

  • Experience with web, event driven, caching, batch architectures, designing systems for high throughput, low latency, high availability and fault tolerance.

  • Experience with event driven architecture and near real-time data movement.

  • Work with your agile delivery team, chapter lead and QA team members to understand domain and accelerate their test automation strategy to enable delivery velocity.

  • Knowledge of batch job scheduling and dependency management using BMC Control-M for distributed systems.

  • Ability to optimally translate business needs into technology solutions.

  • Experience working with Securities Finance system is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $103,000-$218,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
