Summary:
The Director will ensure both our internal and external partners are maximizing their relationships through media strategy and lead the day-to-day operations of the media agencies. Educate and reinforce standards to optimize how BMS leverages and executes media across the customer journey (primarily patients, physicians, and payers). Partner with the BMS Matrix leads to pull through latest media trends to match needs of the business. Influence and ensure the teams are being financially accurate and achieving predetermined goals according to budgets and goals for the agencies and the business. Contribute to determining these goals.
Responsibilities:
- Management of media planning and strategizing across multiple internal senior business partners including medical, commercial, access, and engaging with multiple customers including HCP and consumer.
- Collaborate with BMS Matrix teams as needed to provide flexible media engagement support during high-utilization times of year (annual planning, launch planning)
- Contribute to and reinforce the agency partner(s) strategy, scope and service offering(s) for priority markets.
- Establish BMS roster of strong media and search engine marketing providers.
- Own business acumen for media buying through the facilitation of training(s) for agency on-boarding, marketer on-boarding and new team member on-boarding.
- Facilitate understanding of complex regulatory requirements that apply to media and search engine marketing and evolve standards to ensure markets and teams maintain compliance and are enabled to make effective, strategic business decisions.
- Share media best practices across relevant senior stakeholders.
- Provide media support to business as needed for: complex media capabilities; issues; medical/legal/regulatory reviews; minimum performance standards, strategic input for media planning, training, etc.
- Monitor media trends and requirements and translate complex requirements to capabilities/solutions that allow the business to leverage that information to make effective strategic business and compliance decisions.
- Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with outside agencies, trade associations and customers; leverage those relationships to support the company strategy.
- Communicate with peers and management across the company to transfer information and best practices that support and promote effective and efficient media compliance.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of media planning frameworks.
- Leads and coordinates regular insights and metrics discussions with business partners in partnership with the BI&A team to ensure frequent optimization of media plans.
- Maintains view of the competitive landscape and has a broad perspective across BMS and pharma industry to identify and drive best practice around media expertise
- Drives innovation culture and coordinates with business and capability leads to develop innovative media programs and apply metrics/analytics
- Identify opportunities for synergies and collaboration within and across markets within a therapeutic area
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years of agency experience in media strategy, planning and digital
- 5+ years working within the pharmaceutical industry inclusive of experience tailoring media activations within HCP and DTC campaigns
- Deep experience including acquisition, conversion and retention strategies across all of the key marketing channels (TV, Journals, Print media, Out of home, paid and organic search, display advertising, social, CRM/email) required
- People and team management experience required.
- Demonstrated track record of success in providing analysis, strategic direction, and specific business recommendations to senior leadership on critical decisions required
- Proven ability to lead and direct in a highly matrix environment
- Global work experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to influence, lead independently, and exercise good judgment
- Proven ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, accurate, analytical, and act with a sense of urgency when needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to professionally communicate with a wide variety of individuals, respond to inquiries, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Significant experience in leading channel and analytics planning activities and teams
- Experience working with commercial and medical/R&D business partners preferred
- Both US and ex-US business experience preferred but not required

Compensation Overview:
Princeton - NJ - US: $188,280 - $228,145 
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off
- US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)
- Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays
Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.
*Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
