PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Director of Marketing and Communications' LSC-Online holds direct management authority and accountability for executing the department's policies and operational initiatives. Responsible for developing and sustaining college marketing initiatives for an online college whose primary audience is students enrolled in online learning programs within the college and the community at large. Provides expertise, oversight, and leadership in the development, integration, and execution of all advertising and publication activities as well as digital marketing initiatives and events. Execute independent decision-making with regard to all matters related to marketing and communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and implements LSC-Online communication and a multi-year marketing plan, including media releases and campus-wide notifications
- Provides leadership and vision to create a strategic plan for digital marketing outside of the existing service area, including but not limited to digital marketing, online publications, and virtual events
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with the media and coordinating media inquiries, press releases, and crisis and issues responses
- Provides expertise and material support for the coordination of LSC-Online communications, events, and public relations in an online environment
- Responsible for the creation of executive communications, including presidential messages, videos, scripts, and visual presentations for convocation, commencement, board meetings, community groups, etc.
- Oversees all social media, digital, and print marketing needs and maintains the LSC-Online website. Supervises multimedia services which provide support and assistance in all aspects of multimedia video production, editing, audio production, and streaming, as well as interactivity
- Responsible for all special events, supporting internal and external use of LSC-Online facilities as well as virtual events. Provides leadership to a cross-functional implementation team, including academic and student services, credit and continuing education courses and programs, corporate training and economic development services, and cultural events for the internal and external community
- Develops and implements a strategic plan with the leadership team for comprehensive online student recruitment and retention. Work closely with faculty, enrollment management, and college executives to promote student success across all disciplines and support student recruitment and retention efforts
- Responsible for department budget oversight
- Represents LSC-Online at internal and external events
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and communications skills
- Proven quick and thorough research and writing ability
- Proven relationships with the press and key media outlets
- Extremely knowledgeable in media, entertainment, and tech industries
- Extremely organized and detail oriented
- Proven capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines
- Excellent judgment in high pressure situations
- Working knowledge of CSM software preferred
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience must include at least 3 years in a management level position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree
- Experience working with the press
- Experience writing and editing news releases
Hiring salary range is $77,356-$88,960
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Salary range
- $77,356 - $88,960
