Job Description

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) offers powerful backing and support that helps companies of all sizes gain financial savings, control, and efficiency. We provide a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross-border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing. The Global Commercial Services Marketing team is responsible for creating an end-to-end marketing strategy and distribution plan for our prospect & customer segments around the world.

This Director will lead the Performance & Analytics team within GCSM Global Investments & Marketing Enablement, owning the end-to-end performance narrative for our marketing organization. You will be the single voice ensuring leadership sees the full picture of marketing performance — not just the individual campaigns or channels, but how it all comes together. Equally important, you will lead the modernization of how we measure, report, and discuss results — evolving the structure and content of our discussion while driving automation through LUMI, Power Automate, and Power BI, and championing GenAI adoption across our processes.

This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to GCSM senior leadership and the chance to shape how an entire marketing organization understands and acts on performance. You'll also be at the forefront of bringing GenAI and automation into a function that's ready for transformation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the GCSM performance narrative — be the single point of synthesis ensuring leadership sees how marketing is performing in totality, not just channel by channel
  • Influence how the organization talks about performance — partner with marketing leaders to align measurement frameworks with how they make decisions, while raising the organization's analytical rigor
  • Lead the automation agenda for marketing performance reporting — drive material productivity gains through LUMI, Power Automate, Power BI, and structured Excel modeling
  • Champion GenAI adoption — identify, pilot, and scale AI use cases across performance management, reporting, and insight generation
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team — setting the vision, raising the analytical bar, and building bench strength for the future of performance management at GCSM

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Track record of delivering measurable productivity gains through automation (e.g., hours saved, processes eliminated, cycle time reduced)
  • Exceptional storytelling and executive communication — proven ability to synthesize complex, multi-source performance data into a clear executive narrative that drives decisions
  • Demonstrated experience deploying or piloting GenAI tools in an analytics or reporting context
  • Experience leading and developing analytics teams
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with marketing measurement plans and metrics
  • Strong influence management across executive levels and diverse functions
  • Demonstrated change management experience — the ability to define what success looks like, develop a roadmap to achieve it, and drive the organization to realizing it

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in analytics with advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Tableau; hands-on experience with workflow automation tools (Power Automate, LUMI, or equivalent)

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
