Membership Portfolio Services, within our US Consumer Services Business, is responsible for developing and scaling several growing businesses that are strategically important to American Express. We are developing unique and differentiated ways to strengthen the Membership Model across Amex Offers, Advertising, Dining and Marketing Technology.
The Enterprise Comms & MarTech Experiences (ECMX) team is a global organization that sits within Membership Portfolio Services (MPS). It is American Express’ marketing services center of excellence with the charter of powering high quality, efficient, user-centric digital marketing experiences that accelerate business growth through optimized enterprise MarTech & MarOps solutions.
You will be joining ECMX’s MarTech organization, focused on providing frictionless, flexible, and flawless marketing and servicing experiences.
Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Product Transformation & Planning, this new role will be responsible for defining the scope and vision for our AI and Agentic Marketing solutions.
Role Overview
The Director, MarTech AI Product Management, will lead the definition, delivery, and scaling of AI-powered capabilities across our enterprise MarTech stack. This role is responsible for defining the product strategy and roadmap for AI and agentic marketing solutions.
This role will lead a team of product managers, and work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, data scientists, and marketers to deliver high impact, scalable AI solutions. Commitment to continuous learning and development is critical to this role - you will be known as a thought leader across the enterprise and evangelist for AI, and will need to translate complex technical topics to a broad audience.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Leadership:
-Define the vision and roadmap for marketing AI capabilities
-Create framework for rapid experimentation and responsible AI deployment across marketing capabilities
-Build and scale AI-powered capabilities that drive personalization, automation, and operational efficiency
-Act as an AI thought-leader by identifying emerging trends and technologies, assessing how they can augment or replace existing solutions and leading their implementation and adoption
-Collaborate with executive leadership to align AI-driven products with business goals and customer needs
-Partner with cross-functional teams (marketing, engineering, data science, and operations) to bring innovative AI experiences to life
Product Development:
-Lead the full product development lifecycle including: discovery, requirements definitions, prototyping, launch, and continuous improvement
-Conduct user research, A/B testing, and data analysis to iterate and improve user satisfaction and product performance
AI Enablement & LLM Optimization:
-Lead the configuration and deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs) for marketing use cases, ensuring they meet business requirements and provide accurate, high-quality responses
-Oversee prompt design, fine-tuning, model evaluation, and continuous learning systems with engineering and data science partners
-Ensure responsible AI use by developing frameworks for ethical, bias-free, and compliant conversational AI models
-Vendor evaluation, approval and onboarding
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
-Inspire and develop a high-performing team of AI product managers
-Serve as the primary point of contact between business, engineering, and data science teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of AI solutions
-Engage with stakeholders to understand needs, gather feedback, and communicate product vision and updates
-Work closely with AI vendors, startups and external partners to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the product ecosystem
Data-Driven Decision Making:
-Define and monitor success metrics including: product performance and user engagement, driving actionable insights for continuous improvement
-Assess LLM performance, accuracy, and model behaviour to optimize outcomes
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
-5-7 years of product management experience in a highly regulated environment, ideally with AI-powered products
-Understanding of Large Language Models (inc. familiarity with prompt engineering), Natural Language Processing techniques, Machine Learning frameworks and their application
-Experience directly managing a team of product managers, with demonstrated ability to coach and develop junior colleagues
-Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment
-Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
-A passion for AI and customer-centric innovation
-Understanding of MarTech platforms and how AI can be integrated to enhance them preferred
Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
