Alvernia University’s ACBSP-accredited Header School of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor beginning August 2026. The position also carries responsibility as Director of the Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program as well as Department Chair for the Header School of Business.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a Business related field from an accredited institution (required).
- Prior teaching experience in an MBA program (preferred).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with the ability to incorporate diverse pedagogical approaches across varied learning environments.
- Defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly activity.
- Commitment to service within the university and professional community.
Faculty Expectations
The faculty member will:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate management courses across multiple formats, including traditional day, graduate, adult accelerated, corporate, and online/blended delivery.
- Mentor and advise students.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation activities.
- Support high-impact practices such as service learning, experiential learning, action research, and innovative pedagogy.
Alvernia’s resources, including the state-of-the-art Reading CollegeTowne campus, technology-enhanced classrooms, a business lab with access to Bloomberg Terminal, and the O’Pake Institute for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development support scholar-practitioners engaged in teaching, research, and community impact.
MBA Program Director Responsibilities
In addition to faculty duties, the MBA Program Director will:
- Develop and implement strategies for the growth and enhancement of the online MBA program.
- Collaborate with faculty, alumni, business leaders, and university stakeholders to ensure program quality and effectiveness.
- Mentor and advise MBA students.
- Lead curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation efforts.
- Oversee all aspects of the program, including budget management, student recruitment and retention, and faculty hiring and support.
- Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service aligned with Alvernia’s mission.
Department Chair Responsibilities
While serving as department chair, the faculty member will:
- Support, grow, and develop faculty within the Header School of Business.
- Ensure and maintain academic and operational excellence, including oversight of ACBSP accreditation.
- Foster a welcoming, thriving, and vibrant academic community.
