Job Summary:
Oversee administration for student service operations including the development, organization, management, and implementation of all programs and events for students and student organizations.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
The Harvard Griffin GSAS Student Center in Lehman Hall (formerly Dudley House) is the home for more than 4,400 students in the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. Reporting to the Harvard Griffin GSAS Dean of Students, the Director will lead the Harvard Griffin GSAS Student Center and will work closely with many constituencies across Harvard. This position will have close ties to students, including the Harvard Griffin GSAS Student Center Fellows, the student groups that the position will advise, the Harvard Griffin GSAS Student Council (GSC), and the users of the Center. Within Harvard Griffin GSAS, the Director will partner with the offices that interface most regularly with students (e.g. Student Services, Student Success, Office of Culture, Community, and Engagement, the Office of Alumni Relations, Mignone Center for Career Success, and Academic Programs) to provide programming that meets the needs of Harvard Griffin GSAS' diverse student body.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with key stakeholders and other Harvard Griffin GSAS units, create and execute a strategic vision for the Student Center and help with the branding of the Center
Define programmatic priorities for the Center and collaborate with Harvard Griffin GSAS, FAS Physical Resources, academic units, and others to develop strategic plans to realize those goals, including collaborating with stakeholders on civil discourse programming and School professional development initiatives. Devise strategies and help develop programming designed to engage the Harvard Griffin GSAS community across 58 academic programs across the Cambridge, Allston, and Longwood campuses.
Represent the Student Center and GSAS Student Affairs on various high-level committees within Harvard Griffin GSAS and across the University.
Directs the Center’s administration in the selection, training, and supervision of Harvard Griffin GSAS Student Center Fellows.
In coordination with the Assistant Director of the Student Center, supervise and advise the 50+ GSAS student groups.
In collaboration with Harvard Griffin GSAS Alumni Relations, help foster connections between student groups and alumni, and help identify and develop funding sources for initiatives specific to the Student Center.
Evaluate methods for student outreach, including new technological systems.
Produce and review reports, data, and assessments for continual program improvement.
Generate and manage the Student Center budget.
Hire and supervise staff, assign and review work, conduct annual performance reviews.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience
- Supervisory experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Experience working with graduate students. Demonstrated record of effective leadership in higher education. Event-planning experience. Proven record of developing successful community and student engagement opportunities. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with senior-level managers and faculty. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience developing complex budgets. Knowledge of online student engagement tools (e.g. Campus Labs Engage platform). Strong collaborator with an entrepreneurial spirit, able to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

Work Format Details
This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
