Due to our continued growth and success, we are currently seeking Director of Supply Chain to join our team.
Position Overview:
As the Director of Supply Chain, you will lead the procurement efforts and will be responsible for the timely and cost effective delivery of goods of both aerospace and commercial fasteners. This position will play a key role in ensuring the appropriate processes and controls related to procurement and vendor management exist and are adhered to corporate wide.
Core responsibilities:
- Lead the supply chain organization: Set strategy, budgets, staffing, processes, and performance expectations for purchasing and planning teams.
- Manage sourcing and suppliers: Negotiate pricing, lead times, quantities, payment terms, allocations, and supply agreements with approved manufacturers and distributors.
- Plan inventory and demand: Establish stocking levels, safety stock, reorder points, and replenishment strategies while balancing long aerospace lead times and working capital.
- Protect supply continuity: Monitor supplier performance and risks such as sole sourcing, capacity constraints, obsolescence, financial instability, and long lead times.
- Manage inventory investment: Improve inventory turns, reduce excess/obsolete stock, and balance customer service against cash tied up in inventory.
- Ensure quality and compliance: Make sure purchases meet aerospace/defense specifications, certifications, traceability, approved-source requirements, and applicable government-contract requirements.
- Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Sales, Programs, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Accounting to resolve shortages, prioritize demand, and support customer commitments.
- Improve systems and processes: Maintain accurate ERP/planning data and improve forecasting, procurement workflows, reporting, automation, and analytics.
- Provide executive visibility: Report supply-chain performance, risks, shortages, corrective actions, inventory, supplier performance, and cost savings to leadership.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of progressive purchasing/supply-chain/materials experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience.
- Aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated distribution experience.
- Strong experience with supplier negotiations, inventory management, demand planning, and working capital.
- Strong ERP and Excel/data-analysis skills.
- Ability to understand part numbers, drawings, specifications, certifications, and customer requirements.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience specifically with aerospace/military fasteners, AS9100/AS9120, manufacturer traceability, FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, counterfeit prevention, VMI, consignment, kitting, and certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM would be advantageous.
