
Director, Technology Strategy & Planning (Enterprise Technology Portfolio)
Job Description:
The Role
As part of the Fidelity Technology Strategy and Planning team, the Director – Technology Strategy and Planning will demonstrate strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to support the strategic planning and portfolio management processes for technology groups across Fidelity.
This role is highly strategic, analytical and requires delivery of results as both an individual contributor and through influence in a highly matrixed, fast-paced organization.
The Role and Responsibilities
- Understanding of technology strategy, portfolio structure and data in order to support leaders in annual and quarterly planning and reporting cycles.
- Influencing leadership on key decisions with clear and concise recommendations derived from data analysis.
- Establishing trust and credibility to drive alignment across the Fidelity Technology portfolio via an enterprise-wide portfolio management approach that supports Fidelity Technology outcomes.
- Assessing progress against portfolio management goals and monitoring key performance indicators to provide insights about the effectiveness of the portfolio management strategy and implementation.
- Analyzing data and developing key insights and actionable recommendations for leaders and stakeholders.
- Supporting Strategy and Planning teams across Fidelity Technology to ensure data quality and compliance with enterprise standards and practices.
- Maintaining integrity of and adherence to routines, structure and coordination to ensure execution of executive routines and portfolio reviews.
- Optimizing the portfolio management operating model to enhance scale and efficiency.
- Partnering with Strategy and Planning, Finance, HR, and Delivery leaders to align work, resource, and financial data, supporting prioritization and executive decision making.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree with progressive experience in Strategy & Planning and Portfolio Management
- Exceptional management, analytical, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of how technology teams organize and deliver work.
- Hands-on experience working with large, enterprise portfolio datasets.
- Demonstrated exceptional capabilities in developing and delivering clear and compelling written communications.
- Flexibility to both lead and contribute to teams as an individual contributor.
- Validated strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and articulate connections across separate, but related concepts.
- The ability to represent large, sophisticated problems and solutions at the right level for senior consumption and decision making.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Consistent track record of collaborating to build consensus across multiple levels of the organization.
- Flexibility to both lead and contribute to teams as an individual contributor.
- Self-starter with strong performance orientation and a no surprise approach.
- Comfort with complexity and ambiguity.
