Job Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the District Health Director, the District Administrative Manager is an exempt level position responsible for the overall administrative and operational functioning of health departments in each of South Health District’s 10-county region. This includes overseeing a wide array of duties to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of each health department, allowing healthcare providers to focus on delivering quality patient care.

Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administrative Management: They oversee daily health department operations, including scheduling and patient/client registration. They are responsible for managing medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations like HIPAA, developing office policies, managing inventory and vendors, and maintaining a positive office environment.
  • Staff Management: This includes hiring, training, and supervising staff, conducting performance evaluations, managing schedules, and resolving conflicts.
  • Financial Oversight: This position works closely with district finance and billing to ensure accurate medical coding, billing, insurance verification, and financial reporting.
  • Patient Relations: The position handles patient/client inquiries and concerns, manages check-in and check-out processes, and works to improve patient/client satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensures health departments follow healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and other related Georgia Department of Public Health and South Health District policies and procedures.
  • Technology Management: Working closely with IT; oversees EMR systems, ensuring data security, and training staff in healthcare technology.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or eight (8) years of related professional experience which includes four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or four (4) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM011) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over year.

Additional Qualifications:
5 years of progressive experience in a medical office environment with proven work experience as a medical office manager.
